I have called my Contender carbine in 9mm Lugar my "walking around" rifle for 20 years. It does exactly what it is supposed to do with iron sights including minute-of-popcan out to 125 yards and makes a very satisfying thump when it hits a coyote...

What is the melting temp. of your bismuth alloy and how does it effect the furnace? Have you tried any boolits with that alloy? IF the California disease spreads, this is an interesting concept.

Your cattle must love you for those apples. Some years ago before we moved to the OP a neighbor and I raised bison for 10-12 years. In the fall we would occasionally give them leavings from a local cider presser. The "buffs" could smell us...

I hope your heart heals and your cancer procedures go well. Given my experience with muzzleloading for elk over 25+ years, you can do just fine with a 30/30 and carefully placed shots. There were a couple years that I switched to either...

I have two molds for my 338 WM which is an old T/C rifle. One mold is the Lee 220 RNGC and the other is an NOE 224 gr semi point gas checked with Loverin style grooves. Both are extremely accurate but the Lee boolit isn't stable at velocities...

Now we have had three bears in, a small (150#), a medium (250#), and a large (350#+). I think I got a little too close with the big one and burned his rump a bit. He hasn't been back. The small one is a DANGEROUS bear with an attitude and needs...

Apparently both bears got the message as they haven't returned. I am looking forward to the roasts and all the smoked sausages. Darn! We know they aren't around because our "yard deer " are back waiting for the thump of falling...

quilbilly replied to a thread 338 lapua in Cast Boolits
I use lead in my 338 WM. Love it. Until recently the only mold I had was the Lee 338 220 gr RNGC mold. The rifle wouldn't stabilize that boolit at velocities under 1650. At 1700 fps it is iron sight accurate out to 600 yards when my old eyes...

Yesterday evening proved quite interesting. Both bears that left treasures on our lawn yesterday showed up under our honeycrisp apple. First at 9PM while watching "We were Soldiers, We were Young" I went out on the deck during the ad and...
