I have had my 50 cal. WMC for many years. I use it for elk and long range desert mule deer. I named it "Sweet Thing" because it shoots so much better than I do. With sabots and 429 -260 gr SWC pistol boolits, it has been decisively effective on...

quilbilly replied to a thread It's Sugar Time in Cookin' Recipe's
Sugaring time out here on the Olympic Peninsula starts on New Years and can last until leaf out in late March. Weird weather in mid January caused our big leaf maples to put out so much sap that we got overwhelmed. We just make syrup for...

I use the Lee 125 gr RF in my 9mm T/C carbine at 1200 fps. It makes a delightful "whack" when it hits a coyote anywhere and the result is decisive out to 125 yards (as far as I can aim anymore with iron sights).

quilbilly replied to a thread Cabela's Used Guns in Our Town
Here in the North Puget Sound area neither the used gun area or the "Bargain Cave" are worth visiting anymore. Sportsman's Wharehouse is much better now. It is almost a relief since I kept running into incredible buys on used guns when I didn't...

If you have the urge to shoot cast in a 22 centerfire, it is hard to go wrong with a triple deuce. Training my 223's to shoot cast has been a long adventure but the 222's took to cast like ducks to water.

That looks like about an 80-85% load density given that most 90-95% TB loads are 60% of factory loads with the same size projectile.

I have a friend who is about to order a mold for his 50 BMG. He asked me to inquire from the assembled experts on this site what some powders and loads might be for a "plinking load" with a 600 gr boolit. OK guys - don't let me down

For something a little different this year, I am slicing up a pretty piece of quilt figured maple hardwood to turn into four plaques for the winners of four of the events - the 400 yard iron sight shoot, the 100 yard best group shoot, the practical...

If you are hunting to take hides, most any boolit will do if the terminal velocity is under 1500 fps to minimize pelt damage.

I have a Contender carbine in 357 Max. Love it. It is so versatile given the number of molds and sizes of projectiles for the 358 caliber. My barrel also likes 357 mag brass and theoretically also shoots the 38 SP. but I have never really tried...

One of the reasons some years ago I decided to limit my use of sabots and 260 gr SWC's to long range mule deer (in the desert) and elk is that I got tired of chasing blacktail blood trails (if any) into blackberry thickets. Nearly all my shots at...

That setup in a muzzleloader with a sabot and 265 gr SWC works even better on elk.

They did both round ball and maxi's at one time. My old Seneca 45 only has only seemed to like that 45 RB mold for a reason I have never figured out.
