When I said that the machined surface looked like it could be a valve application, I wasn't referring to a ball valve, myself. It just reminds me a little of the sealing surface of an engine valve. What kind of valve-type application I absolutely...

I've seen and worked on a lot of different types of valves and actuators, from cryogenic ball valves to huge, stainless steel, high purity butterfly valves, and have never seen anything in any of them that looked like that either. BUT, there's also...

That's what I always thought too, until I read an article somewhere that said is was originally intended to harden or strengthen the head/primer pocket. I'd have to try to find the article again because I didn't fully understand it. My understanding...

It's hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like the ring around the bottom is a machined surface? If so, that would lead me to believe that it was originally part of some kind of valve or plug, that and the keyway in the shaft.

Well, I started using some of the bullets I made with the old Ideal checks, and discovered that some were still loose. I got a new mold and used some on those bullets and they nearly all fell off after sizing, even annealed. I super-glued a few but...

I like my cheap little Rough Rider and all, even after the barrel came loose, but I sure like one thing about this new Ruger: I don't see any sign of a goof-ball safety!

Definitely Remington. I've seen hundreds of them. I've read that the ring thing was originally a way to strengthen the case head rather than a crimp, per se, and you'll see WWI brass like that too. The only WWII brass I've seen with it has been...

I've found that I really like the USPS Regional "A" box for stuff like this. Price varies by postal zone. It looks like New York is a zone 8 from the west coast, so it would cost $11.20.

One last bump. $40 plus shipping on the 280pcs of WWII brass, and I'll swage the primer pockets for no extra if you want. If they don't sell I'll just put them away for future use myself.

I use the stepped brass for 9mm Makarov, for two reasons. Some 9mm brass has tapering wall thickness, and when trimmed down for 9x18 it tends to bulge when the bullet is seated. The stepped brass is thin down to the step, and works great for...

I've always been inclined to agree with that, but the odd thing is the various studies I've seen in recent years that show in actual shootings the little 380 is surprisingly effective. It's also interesting that .380 and .32acp used to be common...

It's not legal. Well, yes and no. It's not legal to load and sell ammo without the requisite licensing and insurance, as a business. I don't think it's technically illegal for someone to sell leftover ammo from who-knows-where if it's just disposing...

I pulled down some live ammo recently. It was someone else's 50 year old reloads. I decapped all the brass, and somehow a couple of the old live primers ended up in with some other brass for a 3 hour ride in the wet tumbler. So, I find these two...
