Yes, I’m well aware of why US commercial 8mm ammo has historically been so anemic. I’m certainly not advocating ever putting 8mm in a 30-06 for any reason, but I do have to respectfully disagree with your last statement. I don’t disagree with the...

Funny story about 8mm and 30-06: I’ve actually found range brass before that was 8mm fire formed in a 30-06 chamber. I did some research and found that it’s not unheard of, and under the right circumstances shoots ok (Not saying anyone should-...

I don’t really consider that for myself, but maybe I should for others. I have 8mm brass with all kinds of headstamps. I identify ammo generally by sight, not headstamp. I would no more mistake an 8mm round for 30-06 as I would a 45 for a 9mm. A...

I've gotten lazy when trimming that much brass. I set my dial calipers to the correct length and scribe a line around the neck where I want to trim to, then take it to the bench grinder and use the coarse wheel to grind it down close to the line....

Back when I started reloading I would come across 30-06 blank brass from the 40’s and 50’s, the kind with the red paper disc crimped in the neck but otherwise normal dimension brass. Not knowing any better I just loaded it the same as any surplus...

Anyone know why my antivirus tells me that Swappin and Sellin is not safe because it contains "malware and exploits"?

I've seen a lot of those over the years; they all loaded and shot fine after removing the crimp. I was told long ago that it was ammo for aircraft use, like Outpost says.

Yes thank you. I had no idea that was possible. Maybe I shouldn't have deleted my account. It kind of felt good though, telling them what they can do with their $400 fee.

If I understand correctly, the only way way to see them would be for each photograph owner to either pay Photobucket $400 per year to get their photos to show up, or get their photos off Photobucket and host them elsewhere. Photobucket stinks. I...

I found them today. There's 64 pieces in the bag. I was going to put them up on the trader but wanted to see if you were still interested first. I'll send you a PM.

I think I'm going backwards, compared to most. The stereotype is that most guys pinch pennies when you and raising a family, then accumulate all their toys later in life. I started a little later with the family thing so I've accumulated a lot of...

I just picked up a 550 round box of Federal .22lr at Walmart for $22.78. The shelf was full of them. That comes to 4.1 cents per. If I wasn't pinching pennies tight right now I'd be thinking about stocking up for the future.

I think about all I'd need would be maybe one box of .22 shorts. I shot a couple regular short rounds through it, and the bottom of the brass was bulged out a little. The Colibri rounds worked fine other than shaving. If I get time I might tinker...

Well I think this one is a good candidate for a "buy-back". For kicks I took it to the range with me and shot some Colibri rounds. It shaves lead pretty bad. I suppose I could fix it if I wanted to, but somehow I don't think it's worth the effort.

I almost forgot about about the Portuguese 8mm. That stuff was really good surplus. That and the Canadian. I just went to a show last weekend. I saw a few $50 .22lr bricks but the most common price was around $35. I can't imagine too many were...

I'm embarrassed to say I once accidentally fired a magazine full of .380 in a 9mm Makarov. I had foolishly brought along two different bags of ammo, one .380 and one 9Mak, with similar cast bullets. No harm done but I sure felt stupid. I'm normally...

We do what we enjoy. Do people factor in the value of their time when playing golf? I'm getting to where I don't enjoy casting so much anymore. If I could afford it I'd be tempted to just buy some of those inferior factory bullets, but I can't,...

I tried a couple rounds into a 2x4 in the garage. They worked fine. I figure these rounds must have a fraction of the chamber pressure of standard .22 shorts. The gun is "chambered" for .22 short, but the cylinder is unthroated, meaning a long...

You know, the .22 short revolver with the pot metal frame, good for a box or two of ammo before it's worn out? This one is in pretty good shape, but since it's made with the quality of a cap gun I'm not terribly interested in shooting it much,...
