Went ahead and ordered a couple of the ones the Ebay seller had, figured for nine bucks and free shipping it wasn't worth my time to rummage through hardware store drawers. I'm kind of more concerned about it resulting in too light a trigger pull,...

So I bought a Winchester model 70 Heavy Varmint (push feed) rifle in .308 a while back for just cast bullet target shooting, figured .30 caliber cast paper punching was most of what I was doing anyway, might as well have a dedicated rifle. The...

Buggybuilder just posted an ad with a bunch of bullets and a mold for the .32-40, same bullets work well in the .32 Special in my experience. If you haven't already got dies, I have a good set of old Hollywood dies that work fine.

I use a NOE 45 grain WFN design and I ordered mine with all plain bases. You can have the same bullet with checks and even hollow pointed if you so desire. That bullet in front of two grains of Bullseye in my Savage 219 is a Fox squirrel killing...

Perhaps, but I will say I have made this observation; there are two cartridges that are very attractive to guys who want to push the envelope and try to make it something it is not, the .45-70 is the main one and the .22 Hornet is a close second. ...

I'd kind of like to find a 340 with a bad barrel and turn it into a bolt action .38-55.

This thread got me thinking about them. I pulled mine out of the closet yesterday and shot 40 rounds of 311466 and ten grains of Unique yesterday afternoon. Considering I haven't messed with it for a long time and all, it shot pretty well, though...

I dabbled in cast shooting in a sporterized Swede, the rifle wouldn't shoot much of anything very well, so it went down the road. Recently, I jumped on the 6.5 Creedmoor bandwagon (sort of) with a Ruger American. That rifle shoots jacked very...

A guy has a Ponses Warren 10 gauge loader advertised locally for $275 I noticed today. I want a 10 gauge someday, almost tempted to get it as a hedge against that.

There's currently a thread started by a new guy in the reloading tools forum about loading for the .338, seems a lot of guys are doing it. I never owned or even shot one before, but the .338 always seemed like a much more sensible cartridge than...

My Air Rifle program and I think every other JROTC program, got rid of the Daisy/Avanti 887s a couple of years ago and replaced them with Crossman Challengers, a considerably better rifle, but the Avantis are better than a lot of people thought they...

The groups I shot with this one were with the Ranchdog bullet and would likely give a lot of bolt guns a run for their money. I've never given my .22 Hornet one a serious accuracy test. I bought it with a pretty specific goal in mind, reached...

There are two pretty different versions of the 219 and the internals are different. The older ones, I know, have a tendency towards broken firing pins. I have one that I need to replace the firing pin in. There's a book on them out now which is...

Another good point. I feel the Hornet is best in a slim, graceful rifle as well. I'm on a couple of pages about the Hornet and always shake my head at how many guys buy a big one and put something the size of the Hubble Telescope on top of it. If...

That's not bad at all. IS forming cases difficult? Seems like you'd want to neck that up in steps, or do you just fireform them somehow?

What does a set of dies for that set you back? A few years ago, I bought a Santa Barbara Mauser with the intent of getting it bored for .35 Whelen. Actually shot it a lot as a .30-06 plinking with cast here at the house and had about decided to...

Never understood why the Bee never got more popular, it's really a better cartridge. I've always kind of thought it's because they chambered it in a lever gun instead of a decent bolt action so no one ever saw it for what it is.
