My wife's grandfather used an M1 Carbine as his primary deer rifle for years and killed a lot of them with it. He carried one in WWII and liked it. About the time she and I started dating, he killed a huge buck with it, I have the rack hanging up....

Nice 44 Charlie. That gold ring scope should get you sighted in quickly. What are your loads going to be? I've a gold ring same style. Mine's a 1-4 power. Has a 4 inch eye relief due to it being on a 400 Jeffery.

No on the 70 grains of Black. I think I was getting 55 or 60 with the card and beeswax under boolit wad.

Nice! I don't know, that slow twist may be better for cast bullets than a faster one. A 722 in .244 is one of my bucket list guns. I have a 6mm mold and sizer and have cast some up but not shot them through my 6mm yet

Did you recover any slugs? Seems like you'd want the patch to come off. I doubt leading will be an issue, easy enough to tumble lube just like anything else.

Both my Deer Slayers are smoothbore, the 16 is older than the 12 (pre-855,000 vs the 12 post 855,000). The 16 has the 26", the 12 is short. I have been loathe to get into it and likely won't, but I read where powder coating increases the...

I'll have to cast some and see how big they are. The general wisdom is that Ithaca was the first to make a dedicated slug gun and made the Deer Slayers with tighter bores than most. Not sure if that's true or now.

Red dot was the first powder I ever used when I started reloading. Herco was the second. And Blue dot my third. Out of the three I use Herco the most.

I love Herco for many handgun and shotshell loads. I've been purchasing it in 5 lb. cans forever and just keep refilling my old 1 lb. can. Face it, the old cans had class. Something the new one's lack. Yup, Herco a favorite.

Not sure what you want it to do, but for my 100 yards target shooting in my .38-55, that Lee bullet has proven itself to be a good performer and cheap and easy to get into. I don't even size them, just a dip in some heated and slightly thinned LLA...

It's a C^H press. Seems like old presses could have the big bushing removed to take shotgun dies. That would be a good press for loading metalic cartridges too if you have or could find the bushing.
