How big a barrel channel is in that forearm? At first glance, I figured it was for a break open single barrel shotgun, but now it looks like it was something someone made for a target rifle of some sort. Looks nice.

You can always get a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 Carbine if you want a revolver. I agree with your assessment, it's an under rated cartridge.

Thanks very much for posting this, I wouldn't have guessed a .30-30 case would last that long. Kind of makes me wonder how much longer it would last with neck sizing, lighter loads and occasional annealing.

I love cats. Dogs are great too, but a good cat is special. We had a big tom cat show up and adopt us about three or four years ago, and because we already had three inside, he stayed outside, I made him a warm house on the front porch and he came...

What type of crimp does the Vandalia put on the hull. And how does it do it. Thx.

I use to carry a Smith 442 when I worked nights at a local gun shop. Always loaded it with Gold Dots. Was nice to be able to take my pick of carry for the evening from the display case and ammo from the shelf. So over the years I've had the option...

That's a good bullet, haven't shot it in my 340, but mine does like the 311466, slightly lighter weight version of this same bullet. I bet you can get some good groups with it using Unique or 4198.

I'm not quite as old as many on here, it seems, but something I remember and have been really missing and concerned about lately is American retailing. The little Shopko store nearby is having its last day today, we lost our last K-Mart in Kansas a...

Those of you using the Lee 113 grain soup can, have you tried them without the gas checks at these low velocities? Been thinking of a squirrel load for my Savage 219, and I'd prefer to keep it as cheap and simple as possible. Will likely use 700X...

My 340 isn't what I'd call a tack driver with anything, but is pretty good with everything. All I've ever shot in it is cast. They have been sneered at for being cheapies for years, but they were quite an innovative design when they came out. ...

I'd darn sure take a single shot 12 gauge for home defense over a clenched fist, which is probably what she had before given this shotgun. Two years ago while sitting out on my place squirrel hunting with a Stevens 94 in 16 gauge, five presented...

Loaded up 100 380 acp's with 90 gr. Speer Gold Dots. Seated them to .974 over 3.1 grains of BE. Pop'd one in the mag and snapped the slide and it chambered just fine. So I taper crimped them all and then decided I would load up the magazine and upon...

These are better than the old Weaver side mounts for the 340, though they don't look traditional on them. I have one of these on my .30-30. https://www.amazon.com/Sun-Optics-USA-Hornet-Savage/dp/B003O9YGJU

I was thinking that too. There's a guy on Ebay now with a whole line of shotgun barrel inserts. I'm gonna get one of the 18" 20 gauge to .357 Magnum ones. How deep is the pit? It may be OK to shoot as it is. They are pretty robust guns. ...

I'm a fan of the .32 Special. Few years ago, happened upon one in a pawn shop that needed rescuing. This after I had sworn not to buy anything that I didn't handload and cast for already, so it was new dies, brass, bullet molds, etc., but I have a...

Mine is older, pre-safety. I like the rifle, but it never has been real accurate. It's accurate enough for the woods deer hunting I do, and I'll use it one day when I get to it. I was just shooting it offhand this weekend with some 255 grain RF...
