I use both large and small. Mostly large of recent though. If primers get scarce again come time they try to ban guns, I'll have more choices. I'd love to come across a stash of large primer 38's and 357's. I think they're neat.

Maybe try a new recoil spring. Could be its weak and allowing the slide to cycle too quickly?

I find iron molds are a lot easier to keep the temperature in the sweet spot as compared to aluminum. Also, if you have a dab of lead you want to remove.... you can scrub it off with a brass brush or use a brass rod to pick at it. You'll scratch...

I've really enjoyed this thread. I've never used a turret press, but I'm interested in them. That Redding t7 sure looks nice. Thanks all for this discussion.

I've only had one problem selling. Sold a police scanner for cheap and the buyer said it didn't work. I just let them have it. It was less than 10 dollars. Couple times I have had sellers not send me my items. Both times I got a refund. The...

I like Country Gent's idea of turning a point on a 7/8 bar and making a pointed shell holder. But I'm not sure what I would do with any info that resulted from those test except that it would be interesting. In reloading presses, I doubt there...

Welcome Aboard! Your 22 lead is going to be soft. You probably need to add some antimony and tin. Fit is more important than hardness but you do need a certain amount or hardness. Someone will probably be along soon with recommendations. The paper...

I expect there may be some steel and zinc weights in there but there should be more lead weights than you see now days. I would still sort them. I remember having an occasional weight that didn't want to melt even back in the 70's. I didn't know...

Started tumbling 9mm brass again today. Put the first load in about 0600. I'll dry and sort that load while another one tumbles. In between, I'll keep a fire going in the fireplace for Mama and Kitty and watch it rain!

I have seen several post mentioning range lead being slow to melt. I have not really noticed this, but I have a pretty big burner. The slowest thing I remember melting was reclaimed shot. The graphite and the oxidation insulated it and it melted...

I respectfully have to disagree! A well designed brake can reduce recoil. I'm thinking about putting one on my next 223 barrel just to keep from loosing site of the target during recoil. I'll also make a thread protector to use when shooting at the...

That was a good score! For around $250 plus your time and work you ended up with 900# of lead and the steel and zinc may pay for your propane! That stack of ingots should make you feel good about your hard work!
