Thats a nice score! Try to think of something to do for that shop to make them remember you. Transfer your repair business to them, take them some donuts, beer, pizza, anything to help secure them as a source.

I just set mine in the middle. I get good bullets after maybe the 2nd or 3rd cast and don't mind that low amount of rejects. I thought about making a dog house for mine but never have.

Its hard to beat a 2 cavity RCBS mold and they make a 150 grain Keith Type SWC that shoots really well in most of my 357 revolvers, including my Dad's Trooper. Midway runs them and the handles on sale every so often. I size mine .358.

Just to bump this thread! I just got the XRF results on some samples that BNE ran for me. Pole top pins PB-97.7 SB- 1.9 SN- 0.4 Hardness tested about the same as clip on weights. Each pin produced an estimated 4-5 oz of lead. Some older...

Another "it depends" answer. I would rather my heirs have to sell it after I'm gone than to run short. Another member used to say something like " buy it cheap and stack it deep"!

That was a good days work! I've remelted stuff before to get better consistently. My pot holds 350-400# and I label the ingots from every pot full with a batch number and date.

It depends on several things. Mostly how bad do you need lead and how available lead is in your area. Lead is extremely hard to find in some states while its more available in others. Your prices are not too bad as long as you are willing to do the...

Like the others have said, you can cut them with several different types of power or hand saws. Or you can use a cold chisel, or a wedge or you can melt them with a torch. But why not go ahead and get a turkey fryer and a propane sized smelting pot?...

I would buy all of both that I could afford if the price was reasonable. Depending on the intended use you can mix them anywhere from 1 to 1 up to 10 to 1. Linotype is becoming a thing of the past and lead of any kind is getting harder to find at...

I've never melted a powder coated bullet that I know about. But, like the others, it sounds a little mild compared to a 400# pot of dirty wheel weights! I live on a large lot, on the very edge of town, so smoke is not a big deal where I am at.

Technically the dirt/dust will not be good for your bore. In reality, I doubt there is really enough to hurt. I probably would put them in the next pot of melting lead.

I don't think the Ax is Redneck, but rather cool! I do have some Redneck tendencies, like the one that Roger posted about with brass on the kitchen counters.
