I use about the same methods as ReloaderFred. I prefer to deprime, tumble, resize, prime, ect before the cases see the progressive press. That said, I've found that pistol primers don't build up carbon as bad as rifle primers. If you are loading...

Mine was leaking lube from around the bottom and I rebuilt it earlier this year. Some of my pins were worn and I replaced them with bolts. I went with a grade that is above grade 8 as they have a nicer finish.

I use 5# in a 15# Thumblers drum. A 9MM case of LemiShine, a spoon full of Armor All wash and wax and just cover the brass with water.

The boards are a good idea! My shop floor is only 3-1/2 inch thick. I wanted an 8 inch floor with wire and rebar but they poured it when I was out of town on a storm! Ah, the life of a Lineman! 😀

Since I started this thread in 2015 I have tried several ideas. And like a lot of you, I have a tendency to use or adapt things that I already have. Sometimes they even work! I settled on using a ground rod clamp to hold 2 stamps. I replaced...

I use straight clip on wheel weights for nearly everything including 9MM and 45. Lyman #2 or 92-6-2 alloy sure is a joy to cast with though!

I voted no gloves. I'm not one to ignore using PPE. I cast with long pants, long sleeve shirt and safety glasses, but no gloves. I do wear gloves when adding lead to to the pot. I also wear gloves when smelting.

I try to match the handle to the mold brand. I have been tempted to try the Lee handles at 1/3 the cost of RCBS handles, but the mixed reviews have kept me away from them. I have had a few sets of RCBS handles that I had to pin, so that's not just a...

I won't thumb my nose at your idea. Every thing we do or use started off as someone's idea! But my hot plate that came from Walmart cost less than $12 works really well. For the cost and the fact that it's "plug and play", it's going to be hard to...

It's personal preference. Custom molds are nice but I've never been disappointed with an RCBS mold. I'm probably going to add a 35 caliber mold to my haram next year. Mine will be for the 357 Herrett.

There are members here who trade lead, so a trade is possible. Check out the swapping and selling section. I expect most would want ingots in a trade although most prefer any printers type to be in original form.

The example you are holding looks like pure but your ingots really don't. There is a member here that can test it for you. It could be some type of babbit. That pallet, with 500# on it, would be worrying me until I found a way to get it home!

Sounds like you have a good friend! With that much lead, I bet his F-150 was sitting low. That looks like nice clean lead. I recently hauled 2800# and it squatted my F-250 a little. Sorry for the loss of your other friend.

I would flux your soft lead as that will clean it. If it has other alloy in it, then it pretty much is going to be in it. I would flux any wheelweights that you melt also. Most of us use a separate pot for smelting larger batches of lead so as to...

This is kind of a personal thing, but I don't shoot unknown reloads. I recently, like last month, pulled several hundred bullets from someone else reloads. You can weigh the risk and take your chances. I just don't.
