My favorite alloy for both rifle and pistol is 60% pure, 35%+ chilled birdshot (a hardener), with the rest tin.

I have recently been trying out a new (to me) 30 cal. Lyman custom mold which has one cavity for a 200 gr plain base Loverin style semi-point. So far my Mossberg Patrol (scout style) 308 has shot that big boolit very well keeping all shots in my...

Yes but when the next ammo shortage occurs you'll be laughing all the way to the range. You do have powder and primers galore to go with those bullets don't you?

When I built up my under hammer I used a Green Mountain 1 in 18 45 caliber barrel. I shoot 540 grain grease groove bullets and so far have had excellent grouping out to 200 yards. I figure it can shoot much, much further but our range only goes to...

Yes! Please come back and post range results! Additionally some (me!) may want to know what exactly and where exactly you found. I am looking for the next step up from my Dan Wesson. I think you made a fantastic choice by the way!

I only sell .454 RB's for use in the Walker, since .454 is the recommended size. I also cast heeled 185gr. SWC Conicals for the Walker, these are sized and lubed @ .452. The same boolit is sized to .454.5 for the ROA. Jeff

If the sizing die is square where the GC/boolit enter the die then it will shave copper and sometimes even just lead, especially if the boolit is slightly larger than the die itself. You can pick up a decent hand reamer at Harbor Freight, or other...

I have two 308 shooting CB's. One absolutely loves 2400 (19.6 gr.) with 160 gr. boolits and the other doesn't. Both have the same twist but the one that likes 2400 has a 6" longer barrel if that means anything.

Why not melt down the raw range lead into ingots and sell it that way? I think you would have better results.

Look up Dip lubing, you may be able to up your production and cut time. There are a few tricks to it , but very simple and very few tools needed. There are ways to control amount of lube on each bullet, which was a stumbling block for many at one...

For our local big leaf maple, 2 gallons of sap turn into a little over a cup of syrup. It should be close to the same. What is interesting is that our local red alder also make a good syrup that is tangy and bright red. Unfortunately, the sap...

Not very many this morning since I did have to harvest maple sap from our trees. I did manage to cast enough for a couple session each of 210 gr 41 cal SWC, 130 gr. 358 cal RF, and 200 gr 30 cal. semi point Loverin plain base.

In my 50 caliber 1 in 48 twist muzzle loader I use both patched round balls and Lee REAL bullets I cast from pure lead. I both cases I wipe between shots, 1 damp and 1 dry patch and found the REAL seem a tad more accurate out to 200 yards. I do not...

To say re-chambering a 44 Special to 44-40 won't work isn't entirely correct. I have re-cut the chambers on 2 Uberti 1872 Opentops, one in 44 Special and the other in 44 Colt, both with the wider mouth diameters. Both are still plenty accurate to 50...

I have shot quite a few deer and seen even more shot with the 7.62x39 by my daughters & nephews using cast boolits. Boolits were either a 150 grain Ranch Dog, a LBT 165 grain LFN i had cut years ago or a NOE clone of the 311440, all have a wide...

I use one of my 50's with sabots and 429 cal 260 SWC's for elk and they are devastating. The ballistics of the saboted boolits give you an extra 50-100 yards without having to do drastic ballistic calculations in your head. My load is 75 gr of...

Some years back I ran into a screaming good deal on a new Mossberg 464 30/30 with a wood stock for just under $300 so I bought it as a truck rifle. It turned I got a lot more than I paid for. It has been a wonderful shooter of cast. It loves the...

I use that same boolit for hunting loads in both my 30/30 and 308 using RE-7. When I did my terminal ballistics tests in soaked, compressed phone books some years ago, I concluded that I didn't need a velocity much over 1650 fps. to do anything I...

Double box using a USPS MFRB, plus put the lead in a Tyvek bag. Then use reinforced tape on the outside. They may arrive looking more round than square, but as long as the lead stays together, who cares?

I like the new vents line, they seem to be less sensitive to damage and don't clog up as much.
