No way the barrel is .227+. It will not shoot jacketed bullets at all if it is. Use another micrometer or mic a jacketed bullet to verify the readings. If it really is a .227 barrel, contact CZ and they should replace it at no...

I love my G22's. Even bought a Lonewolf 9mm conversion and 9mm mags so I can shoot two calibers with one gun. Mine is boringly reliable which is what I want in a SD gun. I shoot tighter groups with the Kimbers, but that level of precision is...

For handguns it is a waste of time for the vast majority of guns, shooters, and applications. I used to do it until I started shooting a lot. If I still shot Bullseye, and had the skill I had 40 years ago, I would sort for the 50 yard stages and...

Larry Gibson gave you the best insight IMHO. BTW, starting with a 5.56 in cast is not a good place to be, and you can look forward to an immense level of frustration. I would suggest NOT even trying unless you are more of an experimenter and...

Agree. It is not as fast as a good 6 cavity mold but it allows you to cast for longer periods of time. I have nerve damage and cannot work with heavy molds for very long anymore. You want a consistent and very clean alloy so that is what I...

Lots of good choices above. My favorites are the Anschutz repeater my dad gave me over 55 years ago (still shoots less than 1.5 MOA with junk bulk ammo), a Winchester M52 sporter and the 10/22. If I was buying one now, it would be the CZ.

This morning I was reading a long thread on the .350 by Oldfeller on this site. He was working with an AR. Worth reading if you plan on loading the .350. There were (are?) a few issues with .350 cases that sounded concerning. It is nice to...

This has been an interesting read.... A lot of work and experimentation that will help others on a similar quest. I would never make the journey as I have so little patience and talent yet I can appreciate those qualities in others.

Don't know how I missed this thread before. First, glad to hear the health concerns were put to bed... Next, you did a really nice job on the gun. I like single shot rifles but break opens not so much. Interesting you achieved good...

He may feel obligated to use your ammunition. What if something bad happens? If he wants blasting ammunition, and he is a very good friend, load some up for him and tell him NEVER use it when it counts. I will not load for acquaintances. I...

Why would a thick neck blow up the gun? If the bolt closes without forcing it, I would think it should be OK. Glad you are safe.

U Agree. A few years ago I purchased a ton of commercial 92-6-2 for $1.67/lb delivered. I am too lazy to drive around looking for scrap, picking through it, smelting and adjusting alloy. I have bought alloy from vendors on this site for...

Sold a really nice K-38 and Colt Target .38 when I got into semi-autos. A few years ago got back into revolvers....got tired of chasing brass. Really missed that gun. Started looking for replacements and got sticker shock. What a ******* I was.

I plan on loading .40 S&W, and 5.56 on a 550 The .40 will load a mix of lead and jacketed bullets. The 5.56 will be jacketed. I will need to purchase two powder measures as I prefer using a true quick change. The Lee looks like an...

I believe most of the negative comments about the 80 series triggers came from Bullseye shooters. For the great "unwashed" masses, it is not an issue. It will likely be far superior to any semi-auto trigger you have shot but not as "good" as a...

It is tempting to save money on something as "simple" as a magazine. Good lesson to pay once and cry once. I had an issue with six 30 round 9mm M59 magazines I purchased for a Sub-2000. Half would work most of the time. That made them...

Why? Ammunition is heavy and cheap. Under “normal” times no one is going to steal it if you have anything of value. Ever carry a .50 cal can full of pistol ammunition? If the SHTF, you will be hunkered down. If they get to your pantry...

I have one in my G 22. Gen IV. Also bought the proper 9mm magazines. Took it to a four day defensive pistol course at FrontSight. Never failed in over 600 rounds. I found mine accurate as well. I scored in the top 3% of all course attendees. ...

In my limited loading of the .40 I had good results with Longshot. It yields higher velocity than other powders at safe pressure. Like fcvan, I got a 9mm conversion barrel and 9mm mags for my Glock 22 and run 9mm most of the time. For...

Listen to him. A decent AR is under $600 and will get the job done....not bad medicine for two legged packs of varmints either.
