Sell the neck split .223 brass to a scrap yard...use money to buy more. It will take a very long time to recoup the cost of "salvaging" brass by using it up in some custom made caliber.

Another vote for the 7.62x39 in the CZ. No brass prep needed. And if you want to hunt with it, it will take pointed bullets. But if you have a .308 bolt gun. why not use that as brass is not expensive? You will never save enough money in...

Thanks for the details. I need to try three things before investing in better boots. See if I can stretch my Irish Setters. Then two things with either the Irish Setters or the Sorels...wicking socks and wool socks. Not convinced that...

The OP started this thread over 4 years ago. It does not appear a rifle was ever produced. It proves that there is a significant cost savings in ammunition with a project like can take a long time to have something that shoots. LOL ...

Even though I have almost a life time supply of primers and powder, I would buy more if it was a real deal. Things will get bad again and what I do not use I can sell/barter. Lately .22 LR has been under $.04 a round, I wonder how many of those...

I bought a Howa in .223. It will be my fiancé’s rifle and will keep it ready to go in the family room if a coyote wanders into the area. Once you handle it, you will see the difference between it and the econo models. I have no need to...

Beagle, Star used to offer a taper crimp die for .38 to address the need to worry about slight case length variations on match ammunition.

My experience mirrors yours. Just a few days ago, I reloaded 300 .38 cases and most were over 40 years old....never trimmed...but I only load mid-range. But I never trimmed full power 9mm or .45’s either. I have not loaded maximum loads in .357...

The scope is not very good. But if all you do is punch paper and you do not drop the gun it should do for a while. I would recommend not considering the scope in your decision if you can afford to. Scopes are easy to replace if/when needed. An...

It would be more enlightening if “pretty good” could be quantified....5 shots at 2 MOA? 3 MOA? And what happens with a “slippery” bullet that makes reverting to jacketed bullets attractive.

Popper gave you good advice. But if you are determined to try a bolt gun, consider a T/C Compass. Although mine is in .308, it has been excellent. I have put 6 loads through it and none were over 2”, with one at .25”. I paid $225 after rebate.

Cast for pistol matches, except for the 50 yard Bullseye slow fire target where swaged bullets had an accuracy advantage. Of course cast for CAS.
