The spring idea is excellent. Cannot watch the videos as my internet is limited but from the other comments I gather you do not have a ramp feed. I saw one made of PVC pipe for a Star that was really slick and kept the fingers a few inches from...

I always wanted one in .30/30. Thought it would make a nice cast shooter.

Hard to justify killing an animal that is doing what it needs to do to survive and is protected. I think it is a $1000 fine here. I have heard some of the old time locals shoot (or used to shoot) hawks. Bad idea I think.

Cast bullets....played with a .308 for a while and gave up on using cast in a high velocity rifle. A very circuitous route to achieve the desired destination. Expansion, accuracy and velocity. I would add H4895 as a possible powder. It...

I buy it from AJ Reloading Supplies in Ohio. Roger has components at trap shoots held in Mason Mi and the Ohio shoots at the Cardinal Center. Another good source is Dawson in Ohio but AJ is normally a bit less and AJ is at the shoots. J&S has...

Shot here is $35/bag. You can sell lead for $1/lb. So the actual saving is $12/bad. Figure about $450 for the shot maker and ancillary equipment. Break even at about 38 bags of shot. Almost 1000 lbs of product. And figure about 40 hrs to...

I really enjoy my 1873....except for flinging empties onto my head. Need to wear a cowboy hat when shooting a cowboy gun. If your female companion is well endowed, it can create an interesting circumstance. As to the gun, mine will put 10...

It is a Glock and not an accurized 1911. Expecting much under 3” at 25 yards is unrealistic IMO. 6” groups are unacceptable. I would go to the Glock forum to seek help with evaluating the pistol after shooting a few different factory loads to...

dverna replied to a thread Sizing for pistol? in Cast Boolits
One of the reasons I like the .38/.357 is that in most cases, if shooting plinking/target loads, nearly anything works. There was a recent thread here on using 9mm bullets in the .38....they worked fine. As another guy posted, if they chamber, are...

I have never counted them, but I have not cast rifle bullets in years. Pistol bullets are all done in bulk....sometimes I do not even count loaded rounds...just but them in a box (like the ones they use for commercial bullets) or a .30 cal...

Maybe try a thin rubber sheet between the rings and scope? You could glue the rubber onto the rings but even that may not be necessary. It seems really strange the scope would move with two different sets of rings!

I was once considering buying one but got a Master Caster instead. Not very good support from Lyman. Hope you new one works out better for you. I would try to fix it. Maybe a good welder could do it. Then sell the new one.

Very interesting. I have about 10K commercial 9mm bullets sized .356 and thought for sure they would lead in my 686's. Will need to try them out. Might have to use BLL but that would be OK as it is a fast process.

Highly unlikely you are paying $150/1000 unless the stuff is stolen. Post the source if you can.
