DukeInFlorida replied to a thread 3D Printing Sabots in Swaging
Most of the folks who have played around with sabots on precision loads have been very disappointed. As the sabot comes off the bullet, the bullet it's caused to rumble horribly. Sabots are ok for big heavy muzzleloader slugs and artillery...

Very nice bear pictures. I hope you get drawn. The only black bear I shot was an early spring bear, so excess fat was gone and the meat was delicious. Keep us informed. I too would like to know your firearm of choice.

A 38 is never going to perform like a 44mag, but the 357 will come close. So what you need to do is use a heavy bullet in the 1200fps range or more. She may not like shooting it, but that is what it takes.

This would be a good test for Larry to do for the forum though. Lets say take his favorite 06 equipped with a strain gauge, drive a 150 grain Hornady spire point 12 inches into the barrel and load a case with 49 grains of 4895 topped off with a wad...

If lead has a BHN of 5, zinc approx 50, copper/ gilding metal just over 100 what makes you think you will wear the barrel out? Most barrels are "shot out" by throat erosion not friction wearing the lands down, the lands are usually damaged by...

I've used the 70 Speer semi pointed in my Savage 223 with 1:9 twist, Win 748 is the powder to push it 3k out of 22 inch barrel with fine accuracy, under moa at 200 yds. I could be wrong but think your 1995 Mark II 223 has a 1:12 twist.
