    I am retired own my own machines and shop. I don't have the overhead . but I would still have to have $100. looking at the job I would say one hour setup to clean up. that is if I did not have to take the rifle out of the stock .

    Remington can not do it because they are a production shop. anybody that is a machinist or tool maker can do the job on a lathe. you are not going to do the job with a die ad die holder by hand.

    I can buy pure lead at the shop for $1.35 a lb. this is pipe and sheet. around here the yards are paying .30 a lb. so I am offering .60. put an add on craigslist paying .60. got the replies of I have some I want $2.00 a lb. I told them to keep it.

    my first m1 was a h & r shot the barrel out of it it now wears a .308 barrel and nm sights. I got a Winchester from the old dcm for $225. then I picked up a international harvester. and a springfield. so I have one of each.

    not hard at all. send your old barrel to Robert hoyt Fairfield pa. he will bore out the old barrel and put in a liner. if the old barrel was cut then he will join it under the barrel band. there is a company making the front part of the stock....

    it is a 63 springfield rifled musket. that has been converted to a shotgun by one of the surplus dealers after the civil war. it can be brought back to original shooting condition. which would be better in the long run.

    I don't know what that guy was trying to do. it got too painful to watch. I just set them up indicate the barrel in in two places. or hold it between centers on my 9" south bend and chase the threads. no problem at all holding it tight.
