I purchased one MP 4 cavity .45 SAA mold a few years ago. It arrived quickly and is the most beautiful machined object I’ve ever seen. You could put a new one on your desk or mantle as a conversation piece or art nouveau. The thing will flat...

I had a 70 version of Colt’s 1911. I managed to break the slide stop and the hammer sears. It took several thousand rounds. I’d concour that once you find a 1911 you like just buy and vette a second one. Like the song says “no worries, be happy!”

MOA, LoL! That’s a bit out of my price range. I have two rifles from Simpsons and their descriptions are usually pretty accurate. It does give an idea what was available back then.

My first ML was a .50 caliber “Hawken” assembled from an Italian kit. It wasn’t as heavily constructed as a true Hawken, probably closer to a half stock Kentucky or Mississippi rifle. Sounds like it’s not too far off as an Eastern hunting rifle. ...

Thanks for the input guys! What I’m looking for is what was the most advanced muzzleloader prior to the advent of the self contained cartridge? Basically what was the rich man’s hunting rifle? I probably clouded the issue with the reference to...

My State just added a an extra primitive hunting season. Basically recurves, longbows, and percussion or flinters with a side hammer. This has got me pondering... Just for the sake of this thread letís say the first viable hunting cartridge...

I shoot mainly super sonic jacketed out of my two .300blk ARs. I’ve been using either S&B small rifle or CCI #41 with good results. I’d think that pistol primers would be a bit soft and worry about slam fires.

Rick R replied to a thread reducing my 45-70 load in Cast Boolits
Unique and 2400 work well for downloading 400ish grain bullets in the .45/70. My wife killed her first deer with a 405gr Lee boolit over 14gr of Unique. I heard her shoot and then the boolit hit from a quarter mile away. The starting Trapdoor...

I picked up an SR1911 and then a 3” GP100 because I love 10’s. I don’t see a reason to beat both gun and shooter with continuous use of heavy loads. The round is just too versatile for that. I had a 10mm years ago and found an ammo can full of...

I like my Marlin 1894 in .44, but a .357 or .41 would work for deer or hogs too. I have other levers in .30-30 and .45-70. The revolver cartridges are just easy to load and cheap to feed. Mine is a JM but I’ve seen a few new manufactured 1894...

These days I only hunt deer. I normally use a small daypack to carry gear depending on which weapon Iím hunting with. For crossbow I have an extra three arrows, rail lube, and laser range finder. For gun season itís a ten pack of extra rifle...

I know, shortly after trying them I fell into a deal on 5,000 Winchester LR brass that I had accurate loads worked up for so the LR S&B are waiting in the “on deck” box. ;)

I always wondered if you could use .45 Win Mag brass in a Ruger .45 Colt / .45acp Redhawk with moonclips and have an anti-material revolver.

I shot thousands of small pistol, small rifle and large pistol without problems and great accuracy. I actually prefer the S&B small rifle over CCI No. 41 in my ARs. When I tried the large rifle and my group size tripled I set them aside and have a...

They havenít had them in our Cabelaís store since they were sold to Bass Pro. I figure their purchasing department at Bass Pro took over and weíll get whatever the same old thing was at both brands unless we are vocal about it.

Smith Enterprise makes a ladder sight for the 1895 Marlin Cowboy. It isn’t graduated for range but it is marked to be repeatable. I mounted one on an 1894 Marlin in .44 and after trying a few front sights got it sorted out. Then someone offered...
