If you want a 14" barrel then .35 Rem is the way to go...if you want a 10" barrel then 357 Max or 357 Herrett is way to go. By-the-way..my 10" 357 Herrett shoots 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards..Velocity with 158 grain JHP's is 1950 fps with no pressure...

No matter what anyone tells you...a deer shot with a 30 carbine softpoint in the lungs will die and go in your freezer as well as one shot with a .458 winchester....Not my first choice but with a well placed shot it will bring home the meat..

The generous chamber Ruger uses for stingers and to be sure it functions is a detriment. The bedding, or lack thereof is not conductive to good accuracy. If you face about .090 off the breech and shoulder then recut the extractor groove you will...

My Granny didn’t hunt but sure did cook, and squirrel brains were a favorite. My parents were children during the depression and game was a staple. Nothing wasted, a rabbit or squirrel would make a family meal and then stew from the leftovers and...

I’ve been shooting one since 76, first barrel was a 44mad 10 inch octagon. That barrel, and the first generation grip, almost turned me off the gun! Was the most vicious recoiling gun I have shot! Traded that barrel for a 256Win bull barrel and some...

Those are some cool squirrels! We have grey and red(fox) squirrels. The fox squirrels sometimes have a white face, and are bigger than the grey. And a mature one will make tough gravy! I don’t find anything “wrong” with the rails on the receiver...

Nice find, if my memory is to be trusted the rifle is much earlier than late 60s. They only grooved the receiver for a short time in early production, late 50s is what I think I remember. Didn’t work real well on a takedown so was changed to the D&T...

Agree on getting and reading the Lyman book, it clears up lots of questions. The wads you need will depend on the hulls you get and the shot load you wish to load. I use 7/8 oz in early dove season and 1 1/4 oz for turkey in the 12 gage, takes...

I think the forum software converted the email address to an http link, edit it to an email and give it a try. Mine went when I did that. Thanks Outpost75 for the info

I am not very well versed in them but you may want to get hands on and measure the hole spacing. Suspect a 308 might be factory d&t but never know till you check.

In a heartbeat, but rather hunt them with a shotgun. I don't hunt horns, I hunt good eating deer so worrying about spooking one is not important when there is tasty supper in sight.
