Well....if someone is interested in the MOST accuracy possible then you have to consider the transonic transition where the bullet transitions between supersonic speeds to subsonic speeds. This can and does affect bullet flight.. With a typical...

Yes, I know that now. At the time I did not. I grew up on spring water, caught salamanders and crawfish in the springhouse to fish with. Never really thought about it... maybe what makes spring water sa desirable is what was swimming in it:bigsmyl2:...

Poetry, when I zoomed in on that pretty rifle, I saw and read your tag line, ain’t it the truth! now I am going to clean the sun drop off my phone. This rifle serial numbered to 1950 seems much less bulky than other 60, 70 vintage I have looked at....

I am a stalker/still hunter so I like a rifle that points like a nice double. This one fits that description. I have handled the later (fatter) 99s and they were bulky and not to my liking. This one is slim printable, and I like the grip on it. Very...

I will , most likely, find a replacement rear sight and deer hunt with the open sights. I rarely hunt any more with a scope , except squirrels. For the way I hunt the 250 will be just fine, I am very picky about the shots I take. Really hoping the...

Interesting, is the first round flier a common issue with the M99? I have had a few rifles do that and it is AGRAVating!

Thanks all, I am going to check it in detail tomorrow and see what trade interests can be entertained. Anybody shooting cast in one of this vintage? I have an 80gr NOE Ranchdog for “squirrels an such” :bigsmyl2:

Serial # lookup date is 1950, if that is definitely 1/10 then a bigger plus! Is 850$ reasonable, good, bad??? I ain’t old, just 60 dangit! I like and use open sights almost exclusively on my deer rifles, but. That said, I would put my 2x Alaskan...

Human reaction time, to visual stimuli, is roughly 200 milliseconds. That is 2/10 of a second, even if you have already decide to shoot and are focused on the initial movement. Add in the time to “decide to shoot” and any hesitation or doubt. No...

Hi all, I have found a 1950 Savage M99 chambered in 250-3000. The gun is in very good original condition, except for a Redfield type scope mount and missing read sight. This is the caliber that most interests me in a M99, so I am highly tempted....

That is the way I like to hunt them as well. I slip up and flush them like a big covey of quail! Their head is the size of a dove and they hit the ground sounding like a dropped feed sack. I don’t hunt them in the spring, got fish on the brain that...

Great thread!! I have some fascination with kit guns. Tried a 22 lr PPK in the 80s, but no joy so traded it for a M63. I did not get the accuracy I wanted so it went in trade for a Challenger. Still love the Challenger, but kinda big for a kit gun....

Buckweet, could you provide a little more detail therr??? You seem to have had notably different experience than most. I have never had a rimfire CZ but the 547s I have owned were better than anything else of like features.

I am using 10gr of 20/28 from Alliant in my 375win and the Lee 250. Out of the 20inch BB94 it gives around 1250fps and very tight groups. It is my plinking and playing load so not a lot of testing but I hit 12 ga hulls at 35 yards when I break the...
