I just joined, and wanted to say a friendly "Hello"! I live east of L.A. ,and I belong to West End Gun Club. We have our own site as WEGC under searches. It is the last exit off the I-15 before the I15 an I-215 Split. Go east 1/2 mile turn right at the sign, and follow one mile to gate. I like to shoot pigs so I may get to meet people up north. Deer I don't know where yet to go that works well. But I'll keep trying. I was thinking about going up 395 to just scout, and see for a week.

Welcome to the group. My wife and I grew up in Glendale and I did most of my shooting out near Palmdale and Little Rock Dam. We both left in 1968 and never looked back. I did most of my deer hunting in back of Ojai in the Los Padres NF backpacking about 5 miles into what I am now told is a condor refuge. There was plenty of water in the springs near the trail and lots of bear and deer. We could see the lights of Ojai and the Pacific from our ridge top hunt spot. I wonder what it is like now??? Biggest surprise about LA today is in the new Sunset Magazine. A section of the La River has been rehabed and is kayak able!!! Even in the 60's, that section they call "soft bottomed" had crawfish, frogs, chubs, and a few bass so those things are still there. Not curious enough to go down your way for a look though.

Well till the better half retires we stay. Then sell house, and go elsewhere. Starting to look at land just to get a foothold. Wish we could win the lottery.

Kind of like what we did. We bought the ground 20 years ago and as soon as the wife retired, we started building on our piece of paradise. We did get a steal on the land since neither the owner or the realtor knew there was power underground along the road or that our acreage included access to the creek. We didn't enlighten them. Now all of our California relatives have migrated up here. Hope you are as fortunate. Feel free to come visit if you want to check this area out.

I don't know if we are going to get to keep our guns. I am looking at Idaho,Montana now.Utah just somewhere where people aren't power crazy.

Don't forget Nevada. There are some great places in N. Nevada. The place we like best to camp near Jarbidge I have called Yellowstone without the crowds. Too many Californians and East Coasters moving to Idaho and Montana bringing their politics with them. Apologies to my friends and fellow casters in Idaho and Montana, of course, but I am sure they know what I mean. In reference to keeping your guns, have a plan which guns are a priority.
