I ran across a 1951 Winchester 94 in .32 Win Special last month, and decided I would buy it if I could find dies and boolits. I got the dies last week, and boolits showed up in the mailbox this morning. I loaded the 170 gr RNFP over 26 grains of 4064, figuring that's a good starting point. I used 30-30 cases necked up to .321 with Lee carbide dies.
I didn't set out targets, just shot reactive targets like bricks and oil cans I found lying around the dump where I went this afternoon. Recoil was manageable, and I didn't miss any shots. Looks like it shot to POA out to at least 50 yards.
I'll be more discriminating, and include a much more coherent range report, on my next outing. But I had to go today - I only had about an hour of no rain, and I wanted to squeeze it in ASAP!
Thanks for listening

Do I need to replace the elevator, and if so, is this a fitted item, or is it plug and play.
I'm kinda lost on this as you can tell. The rifle came second hand, and appears to have had a good bit of use before I got it.
Thanks in advance for your responses,

HERE IS WHY!

The most common complaint I get is "I've sent in for x GC's a week ago (or more) and have not gotten my order yet"

Most of the time the note is "insistent" and sometimes it acutally is helpful! At least it starts the dialogue to get the rest of the information I am missing. The insistant MESSAGE usually and inadvertently includes some REAL information I need; like an ORDER number and a handle or perhaps a real name and address I can attempt to match with the letter, afterall I get it via PM so then I can Maybe put together who you are, where you live, what your handle is and what you ordered!

If you are waiting more than a week for your GC's, 99% of the time YOU , yes YOU have forgotten to include some "irrevelant" information I need. I say you think it's irrevelant because you DON'T include it THE FIRST TIME!

Here are the most common "IRREVELANT" pieces of information.

Surely you don't need to include a return shipping address, YOU know where they are suppose to be shipped; after all YOU live at your house and surely everyone knows you and where to send things to you.

Surely you don't need to include WHAT you are buying, YOU know what you ordered.

Surely you don't need to include your handle here, as EVERYONE especially YOU, know what your real name is and what 'nickname' or 'handle' you use at Castboolits, so just by virtue of writing your first name "Chris" I am suppose to know you live in NJ, and how many kids you have, what color car you drive and easy enough, HOW many of what kind of GC's you ordered.

Surely you don't need to write down your return shipping address inside the letter, as EVERYONE knows what your chicken scratch reads on the return address spot on the outside of the envelope. Oh yea, an the postman and the weather, rain and elements NEVER tarnish or smudge your PERFECT PRISTINE, LEGIBLE NON INK SMEARING scribble. Hey, YOU can read it, so you presume everyone else can too, right?

You want your GC's delivered quickly?

do these 4 simple things and you will get them, forget any one of them and it goes on the "research pile" for later.

If you cannot print the invoice I need this from you:

1. Real name and return shipping address (complete)
2. Handle here
3. WHAT YOU ORDERED more specific the better. Just writing GC's get you sent to the "research pile"
4. Payment

The research pile is a holding, nay a resting place, that eagerly awaits a note from an irrate customer wondering where their GC's are. Only then can the missing pieces of information be gathered to complete the order.

If I get one more letter with JUST a payment in it and no NOTE, I am sending it back to the owner, with a note that say's try again later.

Writing your note on the check or MO don't cut it.

I found one that recommended 45-51 gr, but the lower amount seamed to leave a lot of powder in the barrel. I just don't want to lead up the barrel with the higher charge. I also use the Lee dippers. The higher charge had a nice thump to it, slightly more than the Hornady 325 gr.

I got a little distracted with NCBS, so I am posting a new listing for this rifle.

This belongs to a friend of mine. He is thinning the herd, and unfortunately, I can't buy them all!!
The rifle is a Harrington & Richardson Buffalo Classic in 45-70. It has been shot very little, and is in excellent condition. It does have a few dings in the stock, due to residing in the safe! The barrel is 32 inches and is is an extractor model, not ejector, so you don't have to chase the brass! It has the color case-hardened receiver and upgraded stock. It has the Lyman sight on the front, and the Williams sight on the rear has been raised with the addition of a platform made by a local gunsmith (cost $65), so that it is functionally adjustable!
I am also throwing in 100 boolits cast to your specs, from one of the 14 or so "appropriate" moulds that I have.
If the rifle has not been spoken for by next Monday, 5-27, I will add another 100 cast boolits...
The following Monday, another 100 cast boolits...
He is asking $395 plus shipping to your FFL holder. Shipping would be $30 to your FFL holder. USPS money order only.
I can take more pictures if you like, but the first person to post an unconditional "I'll take it" will be the new owner.

Hi guys, not my first time on the forums, but my first post. Been loading 45 acp and plenty of different rifle cartridges for a few years, but just got a raging bull 8 3/8 44 mag. Haven't found a load to fit what I have available to me...

What I have:
Lee cast 310gr GC'd
Lil' Gun
Federal magnum pistol primers

The best I could come up with is 19.0 grains of Lil' Gun seated long... Does this seem like a safe starting place?

And these supplies are all i have available to me, and all im likely to get any time soon. I am also trying to create a load that I could theoretically drop a bear with if i had to, so heavy hitting hard recoil load is fine with me... i can develop a lighter load when i run out of factory ammo.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I've tried casting with the new Lee 300 Blackout boolit mold a few times with poor results. Been using a 50/50 mix of clip-on and sticky ww. First thing I ever did was to use a new razor blade and very carefully remove some machining burrs on the blocks, then smoked it with matches. Then cast some-no good results. Second thing I did was Lee-ment the mold. Cast some-no good results. Third thing was to re-smoke it then use scotch-bright to very carefully clean the carbon out of the vent lines area. Cast some-better results. Forth thing was to just try different angles and what-not while crossing my fingers. Bingo!!! I have molds that require the flow to drop straight down to the bottom to get good fill out, and some molds that don't care how I pour the lead. But this mold needs the flow to hit the spur plate and swirle a little to get the base to fill out nice. Hope this helps someone else with theirs.

What size should I spec out for my new .45 mold?

Hi guys! I have been having a great time casting my own bullets. Until now most of my casting has been done with Lee molds. Unfortunately Lee doesn't offer a 270K style mold, or a flat based LFN style mold of any style bigger than 255gr. Also I prefer casting with aluminum molds, that's why I am turning to a custom mold from AccurateMolds.com

Here's the problem, I am not sure what diameter to spec the mold out to. So let's say my Ruger 45 Colt slugs out to .451 then I was thinking I should spec it out to drop .452 slugs right? I see some of you guys speccing out custom molds .001 bigger than than your bore and others speccing for .454 and sizing them down. What are the pros and cons to these differing methods. If I spec .454 then I assume sizing becomes mandatory right?

I am not a big fan of mandantory sizing. I don't mind sizing my hunting loads, but I want my bullets to be close enough that I don't feel like I have to size the just for fun range loads used primarily for knocking down bowling pins.

Just FYI my lead is Lyman #2 mixed more or less 50/50 with scrap sheet lead rolls from the metal recyclers. I lube with a coat of LLA and load em up. I do have access to my uncle lubrisizer but haven't messed with it yet.

I am looking at the 45-270K mold or the 45-280 in a LFN looking style mold but haven't decided which one to get yet. Any suggestions on which mold I should would be cool to.
