NOE has agreed to do a mold that will weigh in at about 850 grains. This will be a plain base mold. unless there is significant opposition to that. i.e. if I get many takers that want a gc in this then I will be willing to do that. I don't know if Al will be able to do both. This will be a 3 cavity mold in the big blocks. The boolit is close to 1.7 inches long. The nose is about 1.1 inches long. I am doing this to see what the 500 bfr is capable of. I believe Al can make you a bigger diameter if needed even up the 512 range. THIS WILL NOT FIT IN AN X FRAME. The overal cartridge length will be about 2.7. Al will post pics shortly. and I have no idea if this will stabilize in your gun or not. I think it will work, though it will be an extremely close range projectile. The powder space available will be essentially what is available to most people shooting the 700 grain boolits. Those take up .7 of the case these will take up .6. I am expecting to be able to get 1000 fps out of this in a 10 1/2 inch barrel. This could work in some rifles though I don't know if the bore rider will run into the rifling or how that would go. Will depend upon your rifle.
I will run this for 12 weeks or 15 orders whichever comes first. If I don't get enough even for five. I will still proceed.
The pricing would be as follows.
5 thru 9 orders $160.00 Ea. Plus $10.00 S/H
10 thru 14 orders $123.00 Ea. Plus $10.00 S/H
15 on up $110.00 Ea. Plus $10.00 S/H
Sorry no RG’s but we can make a standard HP in one cavity for $35.00.
We would cut this mould on our deep blocks.
And only offer it as a 3 cavity cut on a 4 cavity size block for heat control.
Thanks

If anyone is on the fence about money regarding this one, keep in mind NOE is backlogged to close to Summertime right now, so the earliest we would be paying for this would probably be late summer July,August. And we are letting this run for a while yet too.

probably when we get some more buyers. I would think we need at least five. I know al will do it even if we don't. But this will keep getting bumped till march 1 and then we will see.

out of curiosity, if it is in the .512 diameter, would that work for a 50 bmg?
500bfrman
03-15-2011, 02:42 PM
It might work, but I don't know if you would run into chambering issues with the big wide nose. And I doubt it would be the best choice for any range at all.
Please add me to the list for this. I would want:
1 mold in .502, GC if possible, PB if not
1 mold in .512, GC if possible, PB if not

Has this GB died a slow death or is it still waiting for a few more takers?
I need to check out my 12" Encore and see if this is a possibility
