Don't know about a chrome bore fowling with zink. Only had one chrome bore, and that was in a 50 cal Tryon front stuffer, that when new was a tack driver. After about 500 rounds however, accuracy went south badly. I cleaned with boiling hot water and tight patches on a jag. Somewhere along the line, I started getting streaks of or maybe slivers of chrome might be right on the patch. It was obvious that the chrome was pealing off the rifleing at that point. I continued cleaning this way a number of times without shooting the rifle, and with a tight bore brush, and eventually think I got all of the chrome out of the thing. Then the rifle shot fairly accurately, but not up to its original tack driver level, so I traded it off. That was probably 20 plus years ago, and just my experiance. Have never heard of a similar occurance.
