I had a gun coming in by Fed-Ex. They couldn't leave it because it required a signature, and the delivery address couldn't be changed.
No problem, I just called the 800 number and requested that it be delivered on Wed. 5-18.
I waited at home all day on Wed.
No Fed-Ex.
I called the 800 number.
"Oops, sorry, we overlooked it."
I asked that it be delivered on the 19th, and since it was their error, could it be delivered in the morning.
"Sure, no problem, we can do that."
I waited all day on the 19th.
At 3:00, I called the 800 number.
"Yes, it's on the truck, and will be delivered by 4:30."
At 4:45, I called the 800 number.
"This has a low priority, and we will deliver it by 6:00."
At 6:10, I called the 800 number, and asked to speak to a supervisor.
I sat through five minutes of elevator music, and then they hung up on me.
It was finally delivered at 6:45.
If the drivers carried comment cards that I could fill out and send in I would tell them how unhappy I am. Since the drivers do not carry comment cards, I have to tell EVERYBODY how unhappy I am.

.............Reading your post got me to thinking about it, and about the ONLY delivery service I have not had a major problem with was the USPS. My mailman always delivers before noon. Delivers on Saturdays. Picks up what I leave for him. They provide packaging and labels at no charge and the new experimental flat rate stuff is just great. I sure hope they keep that.
Fed - Ex never could find me. They even called once and I gave them directions, and that's almost what I do for a living; give directions. I give excellent directions.
I will admit that before we moved to town we had the same UPS guy for years and he was great, no complaints. Different story in town. Besides that their prices have always been a rip off for small stuff, and are now unaccountably high even without the fuel sur-charges.

Yup, I think I told this story before. Had a .22 coming from CMP, told them to mark it hold for pick up. It was marked, but I was never called and Fedex had a BS song and dance about how they tried to deliver it. It was sent back to Anniston. I called CMP and the nice young lady their said she'd send it again with specific order for pick up only. Finally got a call a week later and when I went to pick up it was told it was on a truck for delivery. Yea, right. Go back the next day because it wasn't delivered, and they couldn't find it for about twenty minutes. I have only one thing to say. Height of incompetence! That was about six or seven years ago.
Now, in their defense I had another scenario begin to emerge much the same and a supervisor got on the phone and said, "I live out near you, so I will bring it on my way home, Is that okay?" Says I, "ya you betcha, and thank you very much." And he did that same evening. So the only thing I can say about that is that it takes good people to makes a system work. sundog

Thanks for the warnings. I just ordered a pistol from a company that ships Fedex. I live just south of Reno in a place most folks in Reno have no idea of where it is. Think I'll phone the local Fedex station and see if they know.

I sent Fed-Ex an e-mail, and told them how upset I was.
I got no response.
Now I am going to tell them that I posted on two forums how poor their service is, and if I don't hear an apology, I will post on two more foruns tomorrow.

My UPS man is a gun nut like me. He likes delivering to me 'cause he gets to ask what's the cool stuff in the box. If I'm not home, he knows to put the box in the old refrigerator on the porch. Needless to say, I always specify UPS when I have a choice.

Would that old refrigerator on the porch be sitting right next to the couch on the porch? [smilie=w:
