The drip just falls through the hole into the sprue can.

Elegant in its simplicity.

Looks as if it would work great and also hold quite a bit of lead if something happened to the spout.

You should sell your idea to Lee, this should be standard on every bottom pour they sell:bigsmyl2:

ZDOGK9 Yes that is an excellent idea, it might have prevented this fiasco.

Good Idea zdogk9! I like your set-up too, with the sprue tub under the bench.
BTW, I learned many years ago, never leave a machine unattended. This applies to melting pots too! (Like the pic above) .Mebbe I just got a good one, but my Lee Pro-4 doesn't drip any more than any...:?

Been there, done that. Fortunately, my casting area was set up with this potential adverse situation in mind.

I found a cast iron skillet that the pot fits nicely into. It would easily hold a complete drain out like this. Of course, the one day that I skipped the pan, well, I'll give you one guess as to what happened.:groner:

Well, me and my big mouth! Day before yesterday I did some casting. When I was done I put all the sprues in the pot and unplugged it. This morning there was a perfect replica of the Matterhorn under the spout of my pot! Shoulda kept quiet...

You know, I see art in that sculpture there. Seriously, there's a pair of legs, some abstract arms--hey, it's a lead gingerbread man in 3-D!

Naturally, since I'm in the middle of a casting run and have opened my big mouth, I will surely soon join mdi in the eating of the crow....
