Would like some input here on your favored (free) 1st and one's not free but outsanding. I know there is no such thing as a free lunch but would like the $$$$ worth.

PS If it could store Lube Recipes or have some already in the program even better.

FREE ... Point Blank Ballistics Software ... http://www.huntingnut.com/
Been using it for a couple of years and am satisfied.

Don, don't understand why you would want to store a lube recipe in the software for each load data. If it is a must, then there is a COMMENTS section - put it there

Dont know about for cast bullets but for a realoading and ballistic software I use Robs Reloading Organizer. For the price of 30.00 it is hard to beat and way to many features to list here. You can download the trial free for 30 days and after that 30 days you must register the software to keep using all the features. But even if you dont register it you can still use the organizer part of it to store your reloading loads and data. I really like this software because of all the features for the price and I use it in conjuntion with my shooting chrony(beta model). If you have the hookup for your computer(like 14.00 from the chrony website) you plug it in the computer and it will put the info right in the program for you. Plus if you register RRO you get a free program or registration of Chrono cap PC. With this program you can go in and change your settings to your shooting chrony right within the chrono cap PC program. Like how many shots per string, etc, etc, etc,. The more complictaed to do settings if you were trying to change them from the chrony itself. Heres the link to some screen shots and features of this program plus you can dowload it from there. IMO its worth every bit the registration fee to have all the features....Steve.

I'm a software junkie and if it's free or low $, I'm interested in looking at it or have used it. I've been using RSI Shooter Lab (http://www.shootingsoftware.com/ballistics.htm) for a number of years and like the features behind it, it is definitely not free. There was a similar thread posted a week or two ago and it ended up with a number of links. It also caused me to look at a number of products if nothing more than just out of curiosity. I'm familiar with both PB and RRO and either would be hard to beat.

Lee's Shooter (http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1159624122.3919=/html/catalog/bookpg.html#shooter) is a very simple design with complete ballistic and record keeping but hasn't been added to or updated over the years. Lee has missed the boat on this because it is has potential especially if you use their Perfect Powder Measure or Auto-Disk. For instance, it could have been preloaded with info from their line of cataloged molds. I've seen new copies of this software sell for less than $5 on eBay.

Our own forum member,Tim Myers, has a number of products that look great, especially for cast boolit shooters... TMT's Precision Reloading Records (http://www.uslink.net/~tom1/bpc.htm#BPCRecords) seems to have all the features for complete record keeping and he is working on software for us casters.

One that I've come to use quite a bit as a cast boolit shooter is Load From A Disk (http://www.loadammo.com/) because I can enter the cast boolit design info and it will develop a load for that bullet and cartridge. The latest version gives it some record keeping abilities but until now it has been just a load generator like the old DOS based SuggestALoad. LFD doesn't have the capability of QuickLoad (http://www.neconos.com/details3.htm) but QL requires too much input and makes me crazy!

It would be nice if we had a sticky thread with links to all the software out there.

I have been using an OpenOffice spread sheet for recording my own load data. Nothing fancy, I use a separate sheet (tab) for each cartridge with the following column headings:

Date Bullet Type Bullet Weight Powder Charge Primer Case Length Times Loaded Case C.O.L. Quantity Notes Chronograph Data

I also have sheets for processing chronograph data giving average V and SD numbers in the same file. All I have to do is transfer the data from my universal data recording system (clipboard, paper and a pencil) to the spread sheet. Seems to be sufficient for my needs and strait forward to implement even in MS Office/Excel if you've already got it. OpenOffice is available for free for the download for most platforms including Windows.
