I had to look up what a Remington 7 1/2 primer was, and I got carried away...and a chart was born.
It's helpful to me, maybe to you too.

UPDATE:

Thanks for the sharp eyes and the correction ! I added the Federal match primers, I just missed 'em the first time.
I did not include the military spec primers or the imported (Wolf, Mag-tech, Fiocchi) primers on purpose; I have never used any of them, and probably won't.

Thanks for the many replies. I don't know how to sticky it; if someone knows how and wants to, go for it !

Well, you may have gotten carried away, but you did a nice job of it.

Make the change suggested by Mike and then enlarge this and make it a sticky.

The point remains that 6 1/2 is not recommended for higher pressure small rifle applications.

The first thing I did was to copy the text from the websites of all 4 manufacturers of interest (see attachment). As you can see, it is still not a clear tool for cross referencing. Inevitably, editing is done in the course of constructing a chart; a chart is never the whole story, just the important bits. So the bits about high pressure small rifle loads and so on was deleted in the interest of clarity. I hope those bits are accurate.

BTW guys. Hold down the ALT key and type 171 using your numerical pad (not the typewriter numbers across the top).

You get ˝ just like magic. Another hard to find symbol is ALT248 which gives you °.

The nice thing about this one: http://www.lasc.us/primerchart.htm is that you can actually read it, as opposed to the one in post #13 here. I do find a couple of bones to pick with the LASC chart, though. It doesn't include Wolf primers, and the Remington 7.5 (I do mechanical design for a living. We use decimals, rather than fractions.) primer is marked "Benchrest" on the box, not "Magnum".

Stew

The oddball symbols aren't magic if you have Windows. Go to "All Programs", click on "Accessories", and click again on "Character Map".
