hi , how fast can i push a ww cast bullet in my commission 1888 ? i just got an old 32.40 mold and it drops a 155 grn NON gas check boolit (slugged bore at .318 and new boolit is .320 ,perfect i think ) but its not gas checked ,.
could i load up to maybe 1200-1500 fps without significant leading ,/
have a great night adrians[smilie=w:

Should be fine . . . start low, and work up to best accuracy . . .

I've found that PB WW boolits in 30cal can go up to about 1600fps without any leading or loss of accuracy. Adding a GC will take you to about 2000 but every boolit and gun is different. Just try it and see what happens.

It depends entirely on fit, bore condition and your particular rifle and alloy and how much experimenting you want to do. In very general terms 12-1400fps should be doable. If you have a cast friendly rifle and design that rifle "likes" you might even get up to 16-1700 fps. Anything above that is Phd. level work and I have never personally seen anyone routinely shoot PB cast above that area for strings of any length myself. I wish it was easier, I hate gas checks!

Depends on barrel condition and boolit fit. I have taken 50/50, WW/Range Scrap, water dropped boolits to 2200 with a gas check. My best accuracy is found at less than 1800 fps.
