I have cast quite a few of these boolits in my new 6 cavity mold and have been shooting them for about a week. Let me tell ya, this is a fine boolit in my 1894 Marlin carbine! The best load so far has been with WC-820 at 1350 fps and turns in about 2 moa at 100 yards. This combination will be in the woods with me this season, if the Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise.
I finally got IMR-4227 to burn clean by upping the charge to 21 grains, which is about max, but I haven't tested it as throughly as the 820 load. H-110 and 2400 are on the list to try, but it will surprise me if they outperform the old surplus. Yeah, I really like this design! -JDL

I use 20.5 gr's of 296 and the Federal 150 primer. It has taken deer and is extremely accurate. I do not like 4227 in the .44. Your load sounds great and I would not even bother with any other powder. Just go hunting!

.............One of the members here was the designer or co-designer of that slug. I have a Greener Martini in 444 Marlin and that slug does well up to about 1600 fps. Accuracy falls off after that. The barrel is a Douglas but it has a 12" twist. Pretty steep.

That is the only bullet I currently cast for my .44 Mag's. It is also the only Lee mold I have ever liked.
I only have the two-holer and would like to have a six, but I am afraid it won't be the same.
