IIRC, it is a calcium soap.

Bubba: Alox bullet lube consists of 50% beeswax and 50% Alox 2138F liquid lube, which is made from calcium and mineral spirits, a petroleum product.

Lee Liquid Alox is small bottles packaged by Lee of something produced in bulk by Lubrizol, Inc. as a commercial antirust coating called Alox 606-55. Lubrizol's site describes it thusly:

ALOX 606 — Hard film, high melt point, calcium soap, long-term outdoor protection
ALOX 606-55 — Solvent cutback of ALOX 606 calcium soap, 55% active

(Think of the materials Ziebart uses.)

So I'm coating my bore every time I shoot with a heavy duty rust inhibitor!

John,

I heard and thought the Lee Alox was Alox 350?

I'm just going by what's been posted here and on other boards. They say LLA looks, feels and smells identical to Alox 606-55, and that the Alox 350 looks, feels and smells like Javelina lube. At any rate, Alox 350 is not listed on Lubrizol's site as a currently manufactured product.

Alox 2138F is no longer being made, Alox 350 is the current replacement from Lubrizol.

Thanks for all the information guys!!!

Mountain, I did not know that you had all those different lubes for sale. All that I seen was what was on the auction site. Will be looking your way when my current supply dwindles a bit more.

That lube is made by Lar 45, not Mountain. If you searh the boards, you'll see plenty of positive reviews...

Indeed! A friend on another forum recommended the red lube for auto pistol and that's where I found this link.

I read somewhere that the old Alox 2138F was thicker and had more wax in it than the current Alox 350. I mix my 50-50 lube abit heavier on the beeswax to get a consistency similar to Javalina.
I buy my Alox 350 in a 55 gal drum and have some put into 1 quart cans if anyone wants some to play with. It is a thick brown grease, not liquid.
I don't know why Lubrizol doesn't have Alox 350 listed on their site, but it is currently being produced. You just have to call and ask for it.

I had Lubrizol send me some samples of Alox 606 and 606-55. They said the 606-55 was 606 cut with mineral spirits. I compared Lee liquid Alox to the Alox 606-55 and it looked, smelled, dried on bullets and felt the same.
Lee must buy it in huge quantities. Even if I buy it in 55 gal drums, I can not match Midways price per ounce.
