There has been a lot of interest in running the H&G #503 .44 Caliber Keith again, but in a four cavity brass mould. I have "talked" to MiHec and he is prepared to do this for us. It will cost $85.00 plus $20.00 shipping. The minimum number is fifteen. There will be no "beating around the bush" - I will start immediately to sign people up. I will run this for six weeks. Here is what it looks like (MiHec will use the original tooling that he used on the six cavity aluminum mould):

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/Dale53/Dales_44_2009_05_09.jpg

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/Dale53/DALES44_20090509_SMALLAD_DRW_0001.png

We have "Long bow" to thank for the computer generated picture and drawing.

Good people, this is rare opportunity to get another of MiHec's four cavity brass moulds for this fine Keith SOLID bullet. I have the original six cavity aluminum mould and use it regularly. After using MiHec's brass moulds, I now have a "thing" for them (many of you have expressed the same attitude). This is certainly one of the finest performing Keith bullets available, anywhere, for the .44 Special and .44 Magnum.

Unlike the NOE molds, M-P Molds will send you an invoice DIRECTLY when the molds are finished, and that's when you pay.

I like that system a lot, and hope that it eventually becomes the way NOE also does their molds.

I know my problem is I am just so overspent and most of it to Mihec. I bout one of the 434640 or something like that overruns. I am in for both of the 500 smith molds right now. I bought four guns in august, and one on layaway, out next month. If we think this will be done this year I can't get in. but if it crept into january I am in.

Hickory, you can pay Mihec via AlertPay (https://www.alertpay.com/en/Default.aspx) as well.
Take a look and see if that would be a viable option for you.

Happy to do it, Jerry.

Hickory;
Would sure like to have you aboard. I find PayPal to be as easy as can be. I give them my credit card number and that's all there is too it. It's simple and easy and costs me nothing. I realize that they ask for your bank information - I don't give them my bank information. No problem whatsoever. MiHec gets his money instantly and I get my mould at the earliest possible time.

If you change your mind, let me know and I'll get you on the list.

Bushwaker, you are on the list. Welcome to the "Buy"...

Fugowii,
These moulds are spec'd at .432" with WW's. I suggest you send MiHec a Private Message and ask if he can cut yours at .434" (as I understand it, he may be able to make small corrections). I would do this as soon as possible.

Newbie question.

I have an .44 S&W 629 with a 6.5” barrel.
I have yet to slug the barrel.
I would think that all of these guns would all have standard barrel’s.
Would this .432 dia. boolet be the one for this gun?

Which handles work for this mold?

Thanks

Dale53
10-14-2010, 03:34 PM
Wots;
I have several S&W .44's (both Special and magnums). A bullet sized to .430" works perfectly well in all of my Smiths. I have no reason to doubt that yours should be similar. My Ruger Super Black Hawk, Ruger Red Hawk, and Ruger .44 Lipsey Special all respond well to .430" bullets from these moulds.

We had these moulds spec'd for .432" bullets so that anything from .429"-.432" cylinder throats could be accommodated by sizing accordingly.

Mihec offers premium handles for these moulds and Lee's handles for the Lee six cavity moulds also work well.

http://www.mp-molds.com/shopping/pgm-more_information.php?id=6&=SID

By the way, the critical dimension is NOT the barrel but the cylinder throat. You want the bullet sized to "just" be able to push through the throat with something like a pencil. If it falls through, then it is too small. If you can't push it through the throat with a pencil, then it is too large.

You are on the list! Welcome aboard.

The way this works, when the Group Buy closes (six weeks after it started) MiHec will notify you by Email where to send the money (by PayPal). As soon as PayPal notifies him of receipt of the money, the next business day the mould will be in the mail. Delivery can take anywhere from one week to three weeks to get here from Slovenia (Eastern Europe).

Keep 'em coming, folks! Thirty three and counting...

I think this GB is going to be a monster. Miha best lay in a bunch of material for this one. Just out of curiosity, what was the final count of sales for the 45-270SAA 4 cavity mould?

Dale53
10-15-2010, 10:11 AM
chprplt;
The list shows 61 moulds ordered. However, there were two or three added after I sent the list in (not counting over runs sold). My best recollection is 64 moulds.

This one is surprising me. I thought "maybe" 25 moulds. Well, we are at thirty three and we are just barely started...it's all your fault, chprplt!

You are on the list! I, too, have a .44 Lipsey Special and there is NO better bullet in that gun than this design. Mine will do under 1" at 25 yards on demand. That is all I ask of any of my revolvers. Further, I have taken a number of deer with this same design and IT WORKS!

Couple that design with MiHecs "Wonder Moulds", what can I say?

Standard size is .432" and that is what will be shipped if nothing is said. If you need LARGER, you need to write MiHec a Private Message and request .434" diameter. You need to do that as soon as possible so THAT size will be run for those few who need larger.

Standard size diameter will be .432" as cast with WheelWeights. If you need larger, send a PM to MiHec, immediately.

If Miha has your email address, he will send you an invoice to that address, requesting (PayPal) payment. That's when you pay. By then, the molds are all made.

I'm on the fence about getting one of these molds. I already have a bunch of 44 caliber molds, and only one lever action to shoot them in. If I had a revolver, it would make sense for me to jump in.

Dale53

Duke has it correct. The buy will be closed six weeks after it started. Then MiHec will work us into his schedule and start making moulds. After they are finished (typically takes a couple of weeks) he will Email each one of us individually with instructions as to how to pay. As soon as the money is transferred, the moulds will ship the next business day.

Yeah, the anticipation has me whining a bit, too:mrgreen:

This group buy is the reason I try to not spend a lot of time in the group buy section, yet another mold that I simply cannot live without.

I bought 2 of the 45 270 SAA brass 4 cavs in the GB run by Dale. It was the first GB I got in on and I did so because of the exceptional way it was run by Dale. Tough to express how much I appreciate what has to be a lot of work and a lot of time to run one of these this well.

The two molds from Miha are without doubt the finest molds I have ever cast with. I have about 60 molds and many are excellent but none come even close to Miha's craftsmanship. I have 4 cav molds that have more variation between cavities than does 2 Miha 4 cav molds across 8 cavities. That is craftsmanship in the extreme.

Ok Dale ya got me, put me down for one mold.

Rick at lasc dot us

If I didn't already have 44's I would be out shopping today for one just so I could use another Miha brass 4 cav.

Thanks for the kind words, my friend. You are on the list! Your enthusiasm for these moulds mirrors my own feelings.

The rapid sign up for these moulds even surprised me. Since a good number of the present signers already have a fine Mihec six cavity aluminum mould for this exact same design, I was surprised that so many signed up for the four cavity brass moulds. Apparently, quite a number of people feel the same as we do about the precision quality of these moulds. At any rate, I am walking around with a smile on my face (as I suspect Miha is also:mrgreen:). It is a good feeling to know that a LOT of us appreciate excellence...

Tomorrow is three weeks into a 6 week group buy and we have 71 molds ordered. Three weeks to go, can we get another 29 molds to make it an even 100? How about 44 more to make it 100 over the 15 minimum?

4,345 views of this page in three weeks as of right now, how many of those viewers have a 44 and cast? That's a whole lotta folks kickin themselves in the hieny for passing up a mold of this quality at this price. Compare this to a $170.00 4 cav SAECO iron mold of "ify" quality and an "ify" warranty. Or $75 for a decent RCBS iron 2 cav.

At $85 for a 4 cav Miha brass mold you'll feel like you stole it.

Three weeks to go or this could be you . . . :killingpc

One more gold boolit for Dale, just about one more group buy . . . Say for the RCBS 35 Caliber 180 Gr Silhouette boolit in a Miha 4 cav brass mold? [smilie=1: Yep, that should do it!

This is an outstanding 35 caliber long range revolver boolit and to have it in a Miha 4 cav brass mold, well . . .

MiHec is aware of the closing date. I expect him to start working on the moulds within two weeks of the closing date. When the moulds are ready (I would guess within two weeks after starting) he will notify us individually how to pay. When money is transferred (typically PayPal) he will send the mould by the next business day. It takes from one to three weeks to hit your door.

Hickory,

Miha makes handles as well. Real nice ones from what I've heard but he doesn't have any in stock right now.
Lee 6 cavity handles work just fine.
As for your second question Dale would be the one to answer that but my guess would be about 4 to 5 weeks from now.

Rick

I purchased one of the 45-270 brass moulds & wish I'd got two. I'll not make the same mistake with the 44. I have two excellent Lyman 429421 moulds with which I cast the DC 44-250-K bullets. This bullet sold more than any we produced & for my use I find no fault but I get people wanting something a little larger than these will cast. I can size a true .430 but a .431 die doesn't touch the bullet everywhere. This shouldn't be the case with these moulds.

If they work & do as I believe they will be the new 44 bullet..............Creeker
