Ive got a Lee 430-310 mold and was getting ready to load up some rounds to sight in the scope with. What is the purpose of the 2 crimp grooves? I couldnt find anything on the search for it.

They are for some guns with shorter cylinders. Use the lower groove if your cylinder is long enough and work loads for accuracy.
A Ruger will work in the lower groove but a Marlin might not because they wont feed or eject.
Be sure to work your loads for the groove you crimp into because deeper boolits in the brass can raise pressures.

I've been looking at this mold. Does anyone have any dimensions on it?

Thanks

Length and Meplant.

I'm thinking about it for a muzzleloader boolit in a sabot.

Thanks for the help.

meplat is something like 80%

Thanks for the drawing. At 80% that would make the meplat about .344. So it would be fatter than the Ranch Dog design molds at .312.

That is what I was looking for.

If anyone has one to measure, it would be appreciated.

thanks

From my boolits that I cast with this mold the meplat appears to measure in in the general vicinity of .340. Also the overall length of mine measures.834 without the gas check installed. The other measurements appear to be off by the same amount as the over all length.
I can give you more measurements or I can mail you one if you want

Dave,

My Lee 310/44 drops at .4230-.4305 depending on the alloy and temp. Run hot with my rifle alloy (sorta Lyman #2-ish) it runs on the larger side of that and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks all. That is what I was needing. I have been running one of RAnch Dogs .432/265's and I was looking for a little more wt, and a little more meplat. The 430/310 looks like it might be what I was looking for.

I have an extra that I butchered the gas shank on. I was trying to make it a little bigger, and it got made too big to work with the gas checks I have. If you arent looking to use gas checks, or have access to a mill, the shank could be taken off. I was going to remove the shank and use it too, but was afraid Id get the gc ones and the non gc loaded rounds mixed up some how. Id let it go to a good home for $20 shipped if you are interested.
