Anybody load this combination? Looking for pet loads or even starting loads to put through my Marlin Cowboy and SP101 Ruger. This bullet has quite a short nose and long driving bands and thusly sits deep in the case if seated to crimp groove. I suppose I could crimp it just above the lube groove on the driving band if I have to get it out of the case some. I load them single shot in the MARLIN SO oal is not a problem.I'm a little concerned with pressure rise with such a deep seating bullet. Would like to stick with Bullseye if I can. Really like that powder.

I'd say Bullseye too fast for the heavy bullet.

I am working with H110 and a 115gr SWC out of a custom mold with my Single 6 "Mini-Vacquero". Unique also showed some promise. waiting for some HS6 to come in to try it it.

Ken Waters in his Pet Loads found 800x to be best with the 116gr Lyman.

I've not used Bulseye with that heavy a bullet in either of my current or past .32 H&Rs. However. I've found 4 gr of Unique to shoot very well with the 3118 or311316, both 118 gr bullets.

Thank you gents, will try some Unique. I have a tendency to not use it as it is difficult to meter out of my measures but will give it another try. Thanks again.

Larry, are you shooting your 311316 with checks or bare? Thanks, Gianni.

I used AA#7 in my S&W Modle 16 32mag with the Lyman 311008. A friend used a similar load in his Ruger SSSM. We were both loading well above the 20K psi or whatever the 32mag was spec'd at, but should be no problem for your Marlin. AA#5 should also work, and both are ball powders. 2400 and 4227 should also work.

Just out of curiosity, what type of measure are you using that you find Unique difficult to meter?

I strongly suggest you get ahold of a copy of "Pet Loads" and read Kens articles on the 32. I pick up something new every time I look at it and it's about the definitive work overall on reloading IMO. We owe Mr Waters a great debt of gratitude.

With GCs. I have a couple other PB moulds for use w/o GCs. I always prefer GC bullets for optimum accuracy with softer alloys for hunting as I prefer an expanding bullet. That 4 gr load of Unique is a very accurate one right at 1000 fps (6 1/2" barrel Ruger SS) but not the "magnum" load I use in my .32 H&R Ruger SS which pushes 1250 fps and is as accurate. For magnum loads I prefer the 313631 (105 gr SWC) at 1400+ fps. When cast soft and HP'd the are deadly on small game and coyotes.

Bret - Have three measures, RCBS Uniflow, Lee that goes on the press, not the "Perfect", and an old Baer . None seem to handle Unique very well. Dippers work the most accurately for me.

Tom,

I have been using Hodgdon's LIL Gun behind a 122 gr boolit. Seems to shoot very accurately, but high because of the heavier than normal boolit. I haven't got a round to raising the front sight yet. I want to shoot it a little more at various ranges and decide on a final load before I start modifying sights.

Huh. I have the Redding BR, Lyman 55 and B+M. Never noticed any issues, but I'll check closer next time. Actually the B+M never has any problem with any powder, but I'll check anyways.

At one time the 316 was my only mould. I had neither GC or sizer. I shot a LOT of hand lubed and pan lubed boolits. I never did get very good grouping with bare bottomed boolits. When I finally got GC's things turned around and the sizer that came later really made a difference. I think of the 32WCF as a fairly high pressure round, at least the way most of us load it, and the GC sure cures a lot of fliers and, yes, leading.

I've taken the 316 up into the 16-1700 fps range from rifle. It shoots great, way too destructive for small game but on coyotes it works fine. Same out of the larger cases like 30-30 and 308.
