Some where I saw reference to some target analysis software...shareware. The software allowed you to scan in a target and then the software would give figure of merit for the target.

Can someone please point to the website where I may get this software?

I use the RSI software but it isn't shareware. You don't scan a target, you lay it against the screen and use your mouse to mark the holes.

Do you have a web site for RSI?

Double D, I do the same with Robs Reloading Organizer http://www.robsoft.nu/rro3_en/screenshots.asp or the FREE Point Blank ballistics software which can be dowloaded here at this link http://www.huntingnut.com/ although Robs Reloading Organizer is much better and is hard to beat for 30.00

Here you go... http://www.shootingsoftware.com/ballistics.htm

I've been using the RSI for a while. My last use of Point Blank didn't have all the features it does now (just looked). I got pissed off at it a number of years ago because every time I tried to print something from it my PC would lock up. I couldn't get any help for it so went on to Lee Shooter and then the RSI which I will stick with.

I do use Load From a Disk (http://www.loadammo.com/) for load development. The latest version (5.0.1) is a pretty nice product.

Thanks Gents, but none of those do what I am looking for.

The program I am looking for analyzes the shot pattern and and returns the value as figure of merit and works from a scan of you target.

The RSI program is close except it works from the point of aim. I am going to have to look at this program a little closer as it may actually give me what I want.

I found it. I went through my internet history for last week...boy my wife spends a lot of time on the interent looking at gun sites. Any way here is it is.

The GSC then calculates the following statistics for your group:
Average group radius
Radius standard deviation
Group size
Group center

The RSI does the same and more calculations. The big difference is that RSI software does them WITHOUT a scanner. The RSI software calibrates your PC's screen and then you simply click the bullet holes with you mouse to identify the shots. It helps the analysis to place the bullet holes in the order in which they were shot. The bullet holes are even the exact diameter of the caliber you are shooting... you specify the diameter.

Here are some examples:

I recalled a saved target from my Marlin 444T (random selection on my part). The small "x" in the screen-shot was the actual center of my laptops screen. With this particular group the laptop screen center did not work well so I established a new target center with the first click of the mouse (bullseye). The first mouse click is always target center. Anyway, I then move on to clicking bullet holes and then punch the "Quad Analysis" button. The next display is the Target Analysis Display. From there you can hit the "Quad Analysis" button and it will ask the point of aim questions displayed below. From there you get an actual Target Quadrant Analysis.

Hitting the "Zero" button on the target display screen gives you a quick zero based on the information entered when you open the Target portion of the program... Caliber, Firearm (has sight info), Load, Distance, Ambient Environment Conditions, etc.

On the target display screen is a menu item: "Change Impact". It allows you to enter some very specific desired bullet impact information and then poops out the results.

The biggest advantage of the RSI product I see is it's ability to use the screen of you laptop at the shooting bench and give you information you can use in real time.

Don't want more, only want figure of merit. Don't want to spend $99 for a whole bunch of stuff I all ready have when I can spend $10 for what I need.

Good luck with the GSCalc... just wanted you to understand that the RSI provided more and didn't need the scanner.
