What is special about his dies? Most die manufacturers make taper crimp dies.

I have used taper crimp dies and the only thing to control is how far down you screw them. I usually run the ram all the way up with a cartridge an then screw the die down till I feel resistance and then turn the lock ring down till it touches the press with out locking it yet and then I will lower the ram and remove the cartridge looking at it with a magnifying glass and keep adjusting slowly till I get what I want then lock the lock ring.

Yhea, I have never heard of a "right size" taper crimp die. Now an expander die is another story.

Which part of the taper in a taper crimp die would you measure to make sure it is the "right size"?

the part that sizes the case mouth to the proper size at the right height for a non std calibre pp bullet at bore size with a short neck and various other areas of non standard off the shelf stuff that is generic mostly , other than that I guess it would not matter ,
I found the name I was seeking by the way ... thanks ..........Dean
