Lots of better features with this new upgrade. I will post them in a few.
The Today page might not work for a few minutes.

***THIS WILL BE EDITED AS NEW STUFF IS ADDED***

Reputation:
Every user now has "Reputation". Which means if you find this person to be very knowledgeable and he has very correct information, you can give him Positive information. If he seems to be somewhat un-correct you can give him negative reputation.

Search Results:
Search results will now display 50 results per page instead of 25. So, when you click the "Today" page. Get ready to see 50 posts instead of 25. This was a very wanted feature!

Multi-Quote:
On every post, you will now see this: http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/images_acps/buttons/multiquote_off.gif. If you click it it will turn red. This means its something you want to quote in another post. It dont have to be that thread. So you can click that button on a post in the shooters.com forum. Then go to the Cast Bullet forum and when you go to post, you will see a new option to be able to quote your selected posts. (might sound confusing, but you can play around with it and see, it's quite simple)

User's browsing threads:
As you are reading a particular thread, You can scroll down to the bottom and see who all is reading this thread with you. (this is for logged in members only)

Cookie Settings:
Cookies now have a time-out period of 30 minutes. Which should help out some cookie problems with users not being logged in writing up a post and posting it.

Private Message E-mail:
When you recieve an e-mail that says you have a private message. The message will be displayed in the e-mail for quick viewing. Please use the forum to reply to the message, DO NOT hit reply and reply to the e-mail.

Chat is also being upgraded at the moment. When it's online the normal links will be brought back up. The chat had to be upgraded due to a security flaw, so people might have to re-customize their chat to where it was before. Only takes a few moments.

Chat is back online and upgraded. Have a look at it and tell me how it works (most of you wont notice a difference)

The "Chat" button is missing on the main page. Any way to set up a number of users in chat next to the button on the top of the page? Kinda like Chat Button (# of people in it)

Gunmaster Willy,

Major gripe here pardner. That reputation rating is big mistake and childish. All it's going to do is increase pissing battles. You know very well there's forum members that don't get along and they will deliberately rate one another negatively. I strongly suggest you get rid of it.

Joe
P.S. A few others I've talked (and not they aren't in my circle) disapprove of it also.

That is something I am looking into. It's possible right now, but I would have to setup and enable each person which is fine I suppose, but I would like a better way of doing it to make it easier.

It's been taken down with the forum update. I will get it back up soon along with who'se in the chat feature. I just want to make sure the new software is working 100% before I go messing with it.

It's based on Majority. If a few people give a poor rating it's not going to really effect anything. As more and more people rate someone the rating wording changes and you get more little boxes under your name. Why this would result in pissing matches is beyond me. If it does seem to be a problem it can be taken away with ease, let's just let it ride for a bit and see how it works out.

Willy..that's BS and you know it. Why's it there in first place? Since you're so hot to put every feature under the sun on the forum why not put something useful, like audio chat...that sure would save alot of members some long distance phonecalls, as alot of us have been calling one another for quite some time.

It should have been a majority VOTE to have put it there, not to take it off. The laws in this country get enacted by votes. They don't put them into effect first then have a vote to see it the people don't want them.

It's there in the first place so new people that join the forum can see how reputable someone is and their willingness to accept the given information that they provide. For example, if someone stumbles upon this website and see's a shooting load for a 45-70 how would they know to trust the information? Well if they saw the person had a high reputation that might help their decision when it comes to trusting that load or not. Personally I think if you are so concerned about having a "bad reputation" you might need to rethink what you post?

I would LOVE to put in an audio chat Joe, but to my knowledge their is not something like that available. Features that I see might be nice for the majority is something I consider adding on here. Hell Joe, I just made it so when you the "Today" it shows 50 posts, is that not a good feature? Do you have to see all the negative stuff I put on here and have a comment about that? I rarely here you say thanks for doing that.

So from now on, when I add a little smilie such as this: :Fire: . We will have a vote to keep it or not.

Good hell joe, I am working hard on keeping this stuff up-to-date. And if there is a feature that needs improvement I try to improve it, if it needs deletion then it's gone.

Have you heard about other websites getting hacked? Losing all their information? Having your e-mail addresses getting stolen and used? I dont want that to happen here that is why I strive to keep things updated. The information on here is important and I want to keep it safe.

Hey Joe, how about a Good Job once in a while?

Using Poster Ratings as a guide to reliability of posted load data is not a good example, Willy. ANYONE who would use such data without checking it out to make sure it falls within loading manual guidelines really isn't smart enough to be reloading anyway. I don't care how reliable the poster is, there are possibilities that can lead to real problems: Typographical Errors, bad lot of powder, even a mistake by the reloader himself. A perfectly safe .45-70 load in a Ruger N0 1 would blow a Trapdoor skyhigh. And blame will always be assigned to the website. I think the number of posts, which you're already listing, should give someone new an idea about who's been around a while and that most of what they post is OK but loading data should always be verified from another source anyway. Personally, I'm loathe to give out loading data at all, but I'm just an old crab anyway. I think that anyone who posts a request for a load of powder x in cartridge y with bullet weight z shouldn't be reloading if he can't find that information in one of the multitude of loading manuals available and he lacks the experience to correlate powder speeds and calculate a safe starting load. You really have to be able to do this if you want to use surplus powders.

Art,

Putting aside the reputation factor, what you said about someone asking about a load is what I've been saying and thinking a long time ago. Either that Art, or they are too lazy to do that leg work. Even if a load was safe, even in that person's gun and something happen he could still cause you an ugly lawsuit. I would imagine the inexperienced would concider gunrag writers loads as reputable, I wouldn't, not until I checked them out very closely before ever attempting to shoot them.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate Art.

Willy,

Thanks for your changes. Thanks for the good work you've done on the forum. Thanks for bowing to all our little idiosyncrocies. I'm not being sarcastic, I mean it.

My pointing out negatives come from racing car engine building. If I saw something wrong I pointed it out so something disasterous wouldn't happen. Hey, your distributor is loose, or your oil drain plug is loose...etc... Most the fellows I worked with were my friends so they knew where they stood in my eyes and me in theirs. I'll try to be more positive.

Thanks Joe! I am actually going to get a theme made up so it's the same color as the forum.. Sort of a light grey with dark wording. Sound good?

I thought it would be fun to see if we could read the forum without the letter a. And it was rather hard really..

Just kidding, it was a glitch from a change I made. Didnt work, so it's back to normal.. Sorry about that.. It was kinda weird looking around here for a few minutes.
