Primed 22lr bass, 5000/box $95. Kind of cool, I figured someone here would be interested.

Has anybody here fooled with primed .22rf brass? At first blush I thought " That could be a fun experiment." Then I got to thinking about what a custom .22 heeled bullet mould would cost, and the hassle of making a seat/crimp die, and the odds of coming up with something that approaches the accuracy of store-bought stuff- and said "Nah." But still...

hmmmm, Wonder if F lead shot would work? Or how about .22 cal air rifle pellets. Kind of like a mini minie. Or a light weight .22 cast GC? Wonder how the diameter of the gas check base compares with the diameter of a heeled .22 RF bullet? Oh the possibilities!!!!!

Would a 22 pellet sized down enough to be a friction fit in the case expamd enough to fully engage the rifling. That and a half grain of bullseye would be a neat load.

Probably wouldn't do much that a nice pellet rifle wouldn't do but no other kid on the block would have it. The coolness factor counts for something.

Powder behind a pellet will blow the skirt, even a shotgun primer will blow them out. A rouns ball will work, but I think they would be used mostly for the rimfire conversion cases as a simple primer.

How about pulling the bullet on a .22 RF--then inserting a RCBS 22-55-SP w/o the Gas Check..in a bolt action gun. You use the powder in the case: when you pull the .22 cal heeled bullet--you pull straight up, to avoid spilling the powder.
