Today I got in a hurry and did not spend the time to sort my brass calibers before I put them in the tumbler.I was rushed to get to physical therapy, but I had some 30-30, 270win, 38special, 223, 9mm, 40sw, 45 acp that needed cleaned so I could do the rest of case prep tonight. I normally just tumble a caliber or two at a time, and have had cases that have got stuck together, but nothing like what I came home to. The 45 brass is purely a Carnivore, it will try to eat anything that is in the tumbler. Its little brother 40sw tried to eat my 223,9mm,38special. I even had brass fighting each other having two pices trying to eat the same piece of brass. The 40s almost completly ate the 9mm. Looks like 45acp is on top of the food chain though. The time intended for case prep was spent making brass regurgitate smaller brass. All I can say is I knew better! [smilie=b:

haha I learned that the hard way, used to pick up range brass behind cops, 45s 40s and 9s just dumped all in the same batch. won't do that again.

Yup, you'll need a couple pair of pliers to save the victems.

Onion sacks are your friends. Segregate by caliber and put in a small onion sack, it will clean just as well.

Yep, done that. .32 H&R fits nicely in .357 brass.

Its not too bad with the corn cob or wallnut shells. try it with Black beauty you will scrap them they will not come apart. I messed up about 300 9mm inside 40s do you know that every single one was breeding.
do the have a load for those?

Just prime the .40's before tumbling, then load and shoot the ones that are mating.;-)

I half considered selling 9s in 40s in 45s as a "master reloaders package" to get 3x the brass in one box (LOL)

Ever try to get a 32 acp out of the bottom of a 38 spl case? Arrrggg...

You've just witnessed a self-assembling system. Same thing happens when you cook peas and shell macaroni together.

The real important thing is it shows how more complex ordered systems can arise from random disordered systems, much like life evolving through the input of energy affecting random chemical components.

I believe it's due to the Coriolis effect.:groner:

been there, done that, bought a package of brass tumbling nets. to much hassle, especially if you are tumbling a bunch of them.

I did this once and resorted to using an inertia bullet puller to remove 9mm from .40 S&W and .40 S&W from .45ACP. Won't do that gain.

I never thought of that. You just put the sacks into the tumbler?

come on you guys, you know the little net bags that you get onions, cantalope, walnuts in.
lets walnut shel thru but won't let the cases out. just make sure the weave won't get too big if stretched. If you want to pay for some you can get at laundry supply type store.

you can also use mesh baskets if you make them to fit in your tumbler. just take some hardware cloth cut with your tin snips and fold, don't forget to leave the hinged lid unattached - wire twist ties work good to temp attach while in the tumbler

Yep it is loose enough to allow the media to circulate.

when I'm lucky enough to be the first one to arrive at the range after a law enforment shoot,
I pick up the brass by the grocery bags (half full)...outdoor range...in the grass.
anyway, by the time the bag is half full and I walking across the range, those little critters are eatin' them selves up without being tumbled...well not in a tumbler anyway.

Yeah, that would be real important if only the darwinistas could ever find that
