I have both. I have been testing bullets with both of them for some time now. The Lee seems to be more repeatable. It is a little harder to use, though. The SAECO and Lee seem to match pretty well when I use the Bhn vs SAECO curve that is posted at the Castpics site.
The Lee matches the method and is similar to the large size industrial hardness testers I used to have access to in a past job. The SAECO is a little different. I was SNT-TC-1A certified for several types of non-destructive testing at the time. Unfortunately, I left that job (about 15 years ago) before I started casting, so I did not have a chance to see how accurate either one of these is when compared to a multi-thousand dollar, several hundred pound machine.
I have no doubt that either will do any job that the bullet caster needs done.
