I just cast my 100,000 bullet with my Saeco 4 cavity #068 200Gr SWCBB mold. It is still dropping perfect bullets just like when it was new. I am on my way to the next 100,000. Who says bullet casting isn't fun?

Outstanding - that's a serious amount of casting. Good to know they're that stout, I was looking at getting that mould myself (plain base version #69).

Question though, I've got a couple other 4 cavity Saeco moulds, a 441 and a 382. I can definitely crank out some boolits, but some have just a bit of rounding on one side of the front driving band. Haven't figured out what's causing it yet, guess I need to do some tests and dump the boolits separately into different piles to see which temp/cavities are doing it.

Can you share your casting temp, and timing for the #068?

Thanks,

Jim

Let's see that's 100,000 times 200 divided by 7000 carry the one .... uhh somewhere around 2900 pounds of alloy !!!!! :) :) Oh my aching arm ! :) :)

Fastgun, what alloy are you using? Maybe a touch of additional tin would help with the fillout problem...

Check your vent lines. I'll bet you have a microscopic speck of lead blocking one or two.

Yahoo! A milestone fer sure. Wow, 100K of boolits, plus 600,000 grains of Unique (roughly a .45 ACP load, about 86 lbs.), that's a LOT of shooting.

Congratulations!

i dont have any moulds with 100,000 bullets made from them but i have about 8 saeco moulds with between 50,000 to 65,000 made with each of them plus many more with 10,000 + made on each. i guesstmate ive made over 600,000 since i started casting, in 1969
all of the moulds are in excellent condtion

A little TLC goes a long way with a mold.

Humm if you still know the number of bullets you have cast your still using your learners permit.

I've only been casting for about a year, and I couldn't tell you how many I've cast, but I'm still learning . . . just can't remember very well!

100000 is a lot of boolits from one mold, bet he has more than just one mold . . .

I got the pb copy of the #68 from MiHec.
