Took this guy with my Mathews MQ32($275 pawn shop bow) and a Muzzy tipped carbon arrow.
I'd love to regale you all with a gripping tale of how I ninja'd up on him unawares and delivered the killing shot as if by magic, but it just wasn't so. We spotted him and his BIGGER buddy hanging out next to the road we were driving back home on. On a fluke, I told my bud to stop, and I got out. Suprise suprise! Both bucks just stood there, 50 yards away, giving me the stink eye. I duck walked 15 yards to the other side of the ditch, knelt down, and put an arrow through him at 35 yards. he went 40 yards, stopped and tipped over.
I've covered God only knows how many miles on foot, crawling and sneaking, trying to arrow a buck. Now, after 8 years of trying, one just stands there and lets me walk up to him and skewer him?
Oh well, I'd rather be lucky than good.

Good going Dan. I didn't realize archery season was open for goats, until I heard a story on the radio this morning. Elk only a couple weeks away!

the best way i have ever seen to hunt the goats is to get about 20 big red trucks all roaring with 2,000 horsepower deck engines on the trailers with no mufflers on them, and about 20 guy's standing around.
then just stand on top of the water tanks, and wait for the antelope to wander right through the middle of it all.
of course your way works too.
nice. L.

Nothing like launching sharp pointy things up close and clean.
Good shooting !

Yeah Lamar. Your method is also highly effective for calling rattlesnakes too!

Easy to do. Give them false info, and as little as possible!

I don't bother with them either . . . my wife is on there all the time!

I assume that the picture Doug posted is of Dan?

Yes I am.
I moved here 8 years ago with no idea of how I was going to make it. I was just determined to make my home here. Don't regret it a bit. I've now lived in Wyoming longer than any other place my entire life.

Nice going Dan. I wathced friends and relatives try to skewer a goat for years and finally I asked why they didn't just set up on a water tank? Well fate would have it that all of them got a goat the next year.

Nothing quite like working like mad and then using the easy button.

On a different note when are some of you Oilfield types going to make it down here into Southeast Wyoming to work on the directional rigs targeting the Niobrara? Things are starting to get hopping in this area.
