:bigsmyl2: i am thinking about two more molds, one for my 300 win mag, and one for my 45/70. i was looking at the lee hollow base 405g mold for the 45/70, my concern is i have heard that you have to keep the velocity way down on h.b. projectiles. is that true? i am not going to try getting 1800fps out of it, but 1300-1400 is a possibility. for the 300, i want as heavy as i can get. for some reason, the heavier the bullet, the better groups it shoots (with jacketed bullets anyway). i get sub-moa with 220's! my current 30 cal molds are 165 and 150. also, somewhere, i saw a photo of a heavy 30 boolit that had grease grooves almost to the nose. any idea what that might have been?

There are a number of Lyman mold in 30 cal. that are + or - a few grains of 200. several are of the loverin style. Others are more conventional........ you can see them here
http://www.three-peaks.net/bullet_molds.htm
perhaps you will recognize it there. Of course not every mold that Lyman makes, or made is listed there but I think most of them are there.

it says that they are lyman AND ideal molds, is lyman making the ideal molds, or is this just for referance?

Lyman bought the Ideal company and continued making the bullet molds. The molds marked Ideal are just a little older than the ones marked Lyman. There may be molds with both names stamped on it.
