Hi

Had our monthly club shoot today. First time I have been in 'yonks'.

Shot the No.4 MkII with my 'fat' Lyman 311466 flat nose conversion over 17gr of H4227/AR2205. Here is the result at 100 metres, 110 yards.

Bright morning and "lights up, sights up" so had to adjust up by 2 clicks to begin with but all in all, not too shabby. The rifle wears a PH5C sight by the way.

HOLY CRAP! That's fantastic. Are the other 5 shots still on the way? ;-)

Jeff... Right good shooting, I score it a 98... Now about those two 9s! If you were using a post front sight, looks like a mite too much white between the post top and the bullet. Let's work on that...we want a 100 don't we? Perfect is where it is at Laddy Buck!

CHARGAR: Yeap, front post and PH5C rear sight. 98 alright. Best we have done the rifle and me.

Still, looks a bit tame beside the Finn group ah!!!

Jeff... Small groups are nice, but when you are shooting for score, it is putting the bullets where you want them that counts. A tiny group in the 8 ring doesn't mean squat.

Can you get and use an aperture front sight? Centering the bullet inside a ring will help pick up a point or two. Using a post requires a consistant amount of white between the top of the sight and the bull. I strive for the smaller amount of white possible and still have some seperation between the sight and the bull. Unless there is a little white, it is easy string those shots up and down.

Also, if you concentrate hard enough you can also change the course of the bullet in flight a mite to nudge it into the X-Ring. It is all about mind over matter and forcing your will on inanimate objects. I don't know about New Zealand, but we Texans can make it happen. I used to pick up point regular by willing the bullet into the X-ring.

Now that is a fine looking group, and in the 10 ring it looks like to me.:drinks:

But everyone knows them Finns are just plain unfair competition for the SMLE, even if it does have a nifty sight!

All kidding aside, those are BOTH very nice targets!

CHARGAR: Front aperatures don't seem to agree with my eyes. I have posts exclusively on my rifles. Seems to work for me as I rapidly approach 37.
