our club had a hunters primer pre season gong shoot today. that almost reads
like a tounge twister.:) anyhow everybody puts a dollor in the pot and the club
gets half and the winner gets the other half. we fire 5 shots, 100 and 150 meters must be fired standing offhand, no slings. the other targets ur allowed to kneel or sit.
theses are life size taegets and there is a steel gong behind the target in the heart
lung kill zone. the gong don,t ring, it,s a miss. i only won one round today and was in another shootoff and lost. i,m slipping. here is some pics of the targets. missing
is the black bear at 100m and the kodoo.
moose 300 meters, saber tooth tiger- 250 meters, elk 225 meters
griz 200 meters , dinasore 150 meters

Thats neet. How far is the truck and how many points is it worth?
The range i shoot at only allows paper targets.

I'm guessing that if the sabor tooth tiger is at 250m then the truck is around abouts 300m and aim would be just above the front tire for a heart shot. :Fire:

ibunny, that range is the best I have ever seen. I would like to compliment the people who made those steel targets. There is nothing in shooting like off hand at steel targets. I care nothing for bench rest. We had such an off hand match until we lost the range in a stupid law suit. We had to knock over the buffalo or it was a miss. Of course our buff was much smaller than your steel critters. I am green with envy.

The targets are not steel...just the gong hanging behind them is.
The gong behind the tiger looks a lot like a white pickup...

jbunny,
Do they have many dinosaur tags for sale in your area?

Back in the early 80's had a shooting friend that built metal gongs. Unfortunately he is no longer with us. We used to shoot long distance using military surplus rifles with issue sights and surplus ammo. We never kept score except for the last round where the losers would have to go down range and move the targets further down range. Used to get much enjoyment and we'd have allot of fun especially when the gongs would be placed 300 yds or more. I had younger and much sharper eyesight then. Most of us were in our 20 and early 30's and we did remarkably well. Today I'm lucky if I can even see the target at 300 yds and it would be a stroke of luck if I could hit the gong using the surplus rifle's battle sights.
