New .303 British mould.

Howdy team.

I had Jim at CBE cut this for me a week or so back.

It is his 313 220 GC mould for the .303 British.

I cast up some wheel weight last weekend and the bullets measure .3045 on the nose, .3145 on the first driving band and .316 on the band at the back nearest the gas check. They weight in at 221gr. Perfect for the SMLE and with enough ogive to feed but enough flat nose for punching out paper and knocking down game.

Will report on range results down the line.

Hey that's pretty nice. Sorta looks like a Lyman 314299 with a flat nose. Hope it shoots good for you.

That's a good looking boolit. Luckily, my Lyman 314299 casts big enough for my Fazakerly No. 4. Looks like the back band of your new mould will be big enough for even well-worn SMLEs.

I've got an LBT mold that looks surprisingly like that . Trust me , you are gonna like throwing that one downrange . It will do everything you can hope for except sip gently at the lead pot . :-D

That's a good looking bullet. How do you like the CBE molds? I have thought about them a time or two, but reconsidered due to shipping here to the US.

KRAG - I really like CBE moulds. Now have 3 of them and all throw great quality bullets. Jim is very good to deal with and shipping to the US is straight forward. It's just the reverse of what we have to do down here.

Hi team.

I have been working on a .303 Mk VI duplicate load for my SMLE using this bullet.

This is a target from yesterday shot at 50 metres. The high 8 is my eyes still getting accustomed to the open sights of the SMLE.

Load is:

CBE 313-220, oven heat treated wheel weight, 221 grains.
Sized .314, lubed with Beaver Grease Original.
41.0 grains AR2209/H4350.
WLR primers.
R-P cases, neck sized, Lee collet die.
OAL 3.020 inches.
Velocity 2000 fps.

Good stout load. Looking forward to taking it hunting.

Joe is right about the looks - kinda like a 314299 (maybe crossed with an elongated Lee 312 whatever the thing is) all growed up with a flat nose - or maybe a SAECO 301 on steroids. That's prexactily what I've been thinking about. I've been playing with some beagled, WQ 314299 over 23.0/IMR4227 and some of the 50 yd groups are purdy impressive. First round cold, fouled bbl yesterday was ~1" from the group. The rest of the group was less than 1" and had two figure eights separated by a little tear of paper. More testing to follow. Problem now is that it's STILL 90+ every day and I need to get back to casting. I'm starting to run out of boolits!

I've been using Jims 314.190GC in my Martini Enfield for some years. This boolit has several additional grooves around the nose to engrave into the rifling and line everything up when chambering.

My 220 cut by mountan moulds is very similar and makes a very good hunting bullet when cast from straight wheel weights. When I get my Lee Speed copy done that is the bullet I will use for hunting.

BAW: Yeap, I liked the look of that bullet but went with the 313-220 as I wanted MASS.......actually was tempted to go for the 238gr bullet but glad I didn't as the SMLE leaps around just enough with 221gr.

Jim is working on a 313-215 bullet right now. I will post photos once he sends me some.

I bought one of Jim's molds 2 yrs. ago when I couldn't find a CB from domestic manufacturers that would fit my Arg. Mau. (This was before we began the group buys.) Workmanship is first rate, the price was reasonable, even considering the postage, and the results are similar to what Jeff got from his SMLE. I'd highly recommend him.

Nice looking designs. My #4 303 is barely cast friendly with most moulds, tho the Fat 30 is showing promise. No groups that look any thing like the photo I'm afraid. Oddly, I had some undersized 311284's or 299's from a friend years ago that shot great. I have a feeling it's a bedding problem along with a somewhat worn muzzle. Time! I need time!
