I love mine too. With cast bullets it is a great deer whacker.

Going to be real hot here today so I will load up some ammo for it. I was lucky enough to get two more bags of the Winchester 32-40 brass, that was the last of it. Maybe Starline ought to make some.

Hi Marvin,

I heard those things are real dangerous to shoot, especially with cast boolits. Ya ought to send it to me and I will take er off yer hands fer nothing. Love thiose tang sights!

That is a real nice rifle. It is an accurate cartridge and a lot of fun to shoot. If you are pressed for brass you can make more of it out of 30-30 or 38-55. Using 30-30 would involve fire forming the brass whereas the 38-55's would have to be necked down. Neither is an involved operation, but buying it is a lot simpler. LLS

I have a 38-55 also so want to keep the brass for that. I have 150 cases for my Hi Wall and the 94 in 32-40. Only had one 30-30 in my time, a 336 Marlin that was my first high powered rifle many years ago, but plan to get another one sometime. May have to study up on turning the 30-30 to 32-40.

My best friend has a saddle ring carbine in a Mod 94 in 32-40. Had the barrel relined by a guy in Klamath Falls, Or. Got it back and he asked to do the load development for him. Using 13gr of 2400 at 50yds with the issue open sites, all shots touched dead on. Tried IMR4227 and IMR4198
but they did not compare to the 2400 load. Velocity was 1468fps. My friend has been using that load for quite a few years now. Great carry gun and super accurate.

Marvin, thats a beauty, no problems with the 30/30 brass, just run it thru the 32/40 die and it's done. Just made some for a friend. Have a 38/55 made in 1897 just like that one, just posted a pic of it a couple of threads up from this one.
