The " Primer Shortage ", must be over. I was in a shop in the Birmingham area a few hrs. ago that had CCI , Pistol, and Rifle, Standard and Mag. primers " stacked to the ceiling ".

$27.88 per K ( and forget the Hazmat ! ! ) No limits, buy all you want.

So, Ben, I guess you're going to be eating crackers and looking at the picture of a Spam can in an ad for a while…
I know the choice I'd make given the motive and opportunity.

No not really, I've got more primers right now than I'll probably ever use in my life time. It bothered me that people at Gun Shows were gouging shooters with prices $50 and higher recently. They may be eating a few of those now.

BTW....sorry for the very poor photos, they were shot with my cell phone.

$27.00 is hard to take when I started shooting, 1960 they where about $4.75 per 1000,

I recently received an order that I had in with Midsouth for a year, so ya things must be loosening up a bit. Let's hope it continues that way.

smokemjoe :

Yes, $27 is hard to take, I remember those days you describe.......But...You've got to admit, $27 is much better than $50.

Ben do you mind sharing the name & location of this place? Primers are pretty darn expensive here in the Cullman area.

The primer shortage seems to be getting to be less of a issue up here in Canada as well , there seems to be lots of CCI and a reasonable amount of Winchester on the shelves now ! [smilie=w: Not $27.00 . But for here $36.00 a thousand is still better than $70.00 !

Right. And what did a loaf of bread cost? And a gallon of gas? And what did a new house cost? As Albert said, 'It's all relative'...

I was called today by my friend who owns a reloading store. He advised that he had a shipment of LP Federals coming in for $32 and wanted to know how many I wanted. I have found them the last few months in Mississippi, Alabama and now Louisiana. I saw a ad that said 150,000 LP primers must sell make offer. I hope he chokes on them as he is one of the people who bought huge amounts to take advantage of others.

A few weeks ago I was able to get Federal 100 for US$45.20 per 1000. A year ago they cost about US$ 86 per 1000.
I hope they go down more so I can stock up.

Cajun, Don't get mad at the carpetbagger. Offer him $10/1000 and you can watch him sputter and gasp. Even if he doesn't go for it, it's still a wonderful picture.

Aw . . . be reasonable . . . offer him $25 per 1000 . . . still a decent price, and no tax . . .
