Howdy,

Does anyone know a good source of 7.62x54r brass? I've only been able to come across some that costs more than a box of commercially loaded ammo. Thanks for any help.

Remington doesn't make it?? They have loaded it for over 100 years!

Winchester makes it
Lapua makes it
PRVI Partisan makes it

I am not sure of the PRVI Partisan is boxer or berdan primed though.

I just bought some 7.62x54R Prvi Partizan ammo. It is brass and Boxer primed, so it's good for reloading. Sometimes you can catch it on sale for $12 to $13/box of 20.

I haven't shot any yet, but I'm told the fired brass is very good for reloading.

I have seen the Prvi ammo for pretty cheap. I was hoping for once fired or something of that nature. Thanks for the tips.

I did Chrony testing and found Wolf to include a lot of hot rounds. Some nearly doubled in velocity. I don't like shooting them. Wolf Gold was better and so was Privi. I believe they all are the same make brass. My favorite and most consistent 7.62x54r was Lellier & Bellot. I reload all the brass. I avoid Wolf, except the Gold, because of the extreme inconsistency. My reloads are much more consistent and better than all of them. Gotta shoot them to get the brass. They hold up well if I disable the crimp from the seating die (crushed a few with bad adjustment) and use the factory crimp. I have reloaded many at least 25 times with no sign of problems. I do have to trim the brass after a few reloads. Also... You will find the books OAL a bit longer than factory loads so they will fit tight in the same boxes.
