I've put out some feelers for buying cleaned WW lead locally and have some contacts back.

For guys who salvage wheel weight lead what would you consider a fair price for your lead cleaned and in manageable ingot sizes?

It appears buckets go for $25 give or take around here. Our 20 litre bucket is the same as an American 5 gallon bucket.

In ingots, it is going for $1.00 per lb. I believe that is about the average.

COnsidering that many buckets around here are as low as 60% lead, at $25/, that is about 90# useable alloy wts less 15%+ for clips & crud, about 80# alloy. At $25/, that's 30c/#. Pretty cheap. Of course, the time to collect, sort & smelt, maybe buying ingots for $1/# is viable, still cheap alloy, as long as it's known to be ww & not zinc or other unknown mix.

I just bought 50+ lbs of WW lead from another member here for $52 shipped in a USPS flat rate box. Seems a very reasonable price.

The only problem with buying ingots is that you need to be dealing with someone that has a very good reputation or you may get burned. No pun intended.

Hard to get burned on WW ingots. If mixed w/straight Pb, so much the better, in many cases.

W/W and pb are a good mix. A bunch of Zn mixed in? Hmmm, not so good.
