i thought those were so cool that i went out to the shop and made several of each this afternoon. easy. oh yea, it was on a 3 in one machine too. but the motor burned out so i hooked a bicycle up to the spindle so i could finish the projects.

I only wish I could have that much time and machine time to dedicate to firearms related projects.[smilie=s:

I can't imagine having that much free time unless I won the lottery or something.

Wow and I thought it was ambitious to want to make scale radial aircraft engines. I can only hope when I have the time & money to do this kind of stuff I still have the wits as well.

Anybody seen the movie "The Worlds Fastest Indian"? Fellow took a 1920 Indian Scout and set some land speed records for a motorcycle under 1000cc. Around 200mph and he was like 70 years old. He made his own heads, pistons, con rods, flywheels, camshafts(converted to 4), crank pins, frame, body, primary chain drive setup, converted from flathead to overhead valve and the list goes on and on. Most of his parts were carved out with a small lathe and a lot of hand filing. He quit his job to dedicate 16hr days to designing, building and testing his ideas. He melted down auto pistons(2 parts chev to 1 part Ford) and cast his own and finished them on the lath. Cylinders were carved out of some scrap cast iron sewer or water main pipe and the fitted with a sleeve all turned on the small lathe. The mans name was Burt Munro if anybody cares to read up on him. He held many records with the bike he had purchased new.

I have no idea where that kind of drive comes from but would like to find a little of it.

mroliver77, loved that movie. Lots of funny parts like the shoe polish on the tires to hide the cracks. The story about him tells of making a con rod from a truck axle, most of it done with a file.

It sits on your desk until you take it apart to find the pieces of a gun inside to assemble & shoot...

Hey Old Ironsights, thanks for the explanation. I totally missed that the gun and the Chinese puzzle were part and parcel, literally! I guess if the You Tube video had worked for me I would have seen that immediately. "Many a slip twixt the cup and the lip". :veryconfu
